immobiliser to stop car being started.

seperate alarm for break in detection.. mounted in boot, or rear panels (in 2 door), so hard to find )boot harder to open than door and usually not needed to steal car), and a couple of these mounted in car (front, back, so it takes time to find and kill them all)

yes it is a bitch if it goes off accidentally, but would work nicely...

    take off the dizzy-to-coil lead.

i really don't like the thought of in-car screecher alarms. The chance of it backfiring on your own ears I think is quite likely.

and if you want you can get a 130-DB siren and you just have to change 1 resister..

no another note in my car i have: fuel cut out, engine immobiliser, ignition immobiliser , 2 130DB sirens in the car.
theres a lot of custom stuff in there as well but wont say any more..

o and the best thing is my boot dead locks so you cant just lift the leaver to open the boot

puzzleman what is the deal with those kits, why do they need a circuit made up?

can i not just buy a really loud piezo from farnell or something and wire it directly to the siren output of my alarm?

i'll give you the rest later lol

her just had an idea why dont u just replace the standard siren with a heavy duty screamer and replace the standard siren box with something more heavy duuty. Maybe even stick a screamer in the cabin it self. They put out 105 db so i doubt a crim would be staying near your car for to long if he did manage to get in it
Errr you loose, Hood has a sensor on it, as soon as you open it the alarm is going.

Err you loose again, as soon as the backup batter is removed, the alarm sounds from it's primary power source. before you say anything visa versa works to, as soon as the primary power source disappears = activation.

Sam - Get a decent alarm, you have to ask yourself how much effort someone is going to put into stealing an an ae86. You only have to make your car harder to steal than the car next to you!

At footy training last year some ballsy bugger went right through our car park and broke into every car that didn't have a visible sign of an alarm (ie a blinking red light) my 185 was there with about $20k worth of computer equiptment with many more thousands of dollars worth of unprotected source code (they prolly would have just formatted the drive if they stole them so it isn't worth stating the actual value!). A flashing red light saved me.

As for the you want to imobilise it partially so you can beat them - think about what you say, yes we would all like to kick our fair share of car theives. But to intentionally set them up to allow for it, and talk about it on a public forum, is almost premeditiation and could land you in trouble...

yes you can do that i have it as a back up.
the kits are on a time delay so when someone gets in the car nothing
happens for 15 sec so they think its ok so they start riping radio out
or look if someone seen them, then BAM 130 DB of heaven .

My alarm played up once, and I got around it by applying 12V to the relays in its box. They all share the same power rail too.
Showed the makers and they were most impressed that I had beaten their 3 point immobiliser so easily.
Got a different alarm since then. Fitted two Jaycar 'Tweetie Pie' alarm sirens, one inside and one under the bonnet. If I'm parking in a dodgy area I just unplug the 2 cables/plugs that go to the ignitor. The engine will crank but not fire. Or I could pull the fuse on the fuel pump relay I fitted in the boot. So many ways to do it They only way they could take it would be with a tilt-truck.

Dog shit smeared under the door handles is apparently a good deterrent.

A dye bomb would also be an amusing deterrent. Of course a suitably placed sticker to warn the thief would have to be applied

Probably best to keep the details vague about what you end up using or not tell anyone at all
