Rally toyota?

Do either a KE20/25 or a KE35 with 2Tg. Either of these is homologated for competion. Cant be beaten for fun factor and low cost. Not hard to make 960kg or lower weight. Remember power vs weight is the key.

T50's are in KE rolla's, same as sprinters.

Hmm correct me if im wrong being a K series engine the KE corollas had either K40 being a 4 speed or K50 being a 5 speed. T series boxes were behind 2TG's and i think 4AG's etc. Thus you have a TA22.

Also i have a KE35 sitting in my driveway its a rolling shell and its going to the wreckers soon if your interested. Needs an engine and windscreen and seats, the body's a bit rough but what do you want for not much.

Go the AE71 easy to find parts for.

Just remember Rally = Money (then again Cars = Money)

Just a few costs i have added up for my Celica Rally car

Full 6 point welded cage = $2500
Terratrip distance meter = $700
Harness's x2 = $500 (cheap)
Hydraulic handbrake =$260
Coil over suspension = $800
New Koni shocks =$900

And this is just running a standard 2TG with twin 40mm webers no engine mods.

You forgot seats and tyres.....

You can do the handbrake cheaper than that though (if you can build it yourself)..

Cool stuff. I was thinking of this the other day and had come to the conclusion of a KE35 or a AE71.

Light and mechanically simple. I think they'd be much more fun than the RA6x.
FWIW, the 1G-GTE is lighter than the 21R-C POS that I turfed. It is longer, though so works out roughly the same?

if your talking about the celica yeah its going to be damn good.

and for proof 3rd place in the NatCap rally last weekend for the Classic's was Ian Wilson in a TA22 Celica.

Thats what Ive been trying to say, it is about the same weight.. Would love RA60 coupe with 1GGEU, thats what I want, but will depend on club rules. Otherwise, AE71 with 4AGE.

Not sure but there is very little room to move when it comes to Rallying and swapping engines from different family's.

Most of the time you are restricted to what engine came in the car.

But in some cases you can get lucky ie Ke20/25 series corolla can have 2t series engine not sure about 2tg though.

buy something tidy with a few spares that will cost a bit more and work out cheaper in the long run
also buy a car that will run 15s as these tyres are easyer to source second hand
buy a sprinter with a 4age with mild work with all the right bits for 9 grand as you will spend nearly that if not more building 1

I just have to convince my mrs to let me take the Ae71 from my parents place to ours.
I think I'll have to sell the ST162 in that case. I already have a race seat just need to fab up the mounts. I have helmet, spare set of wheels. They are a pretty easy car to get parts for and hopefully the takumi tax wont go onto the KE70/ae71s.

As the car wont ever see the road and its basically a screw around car I guess I had better start looking for a replacement 4AC (for the time being) and some new suspention.

EDIT: For my first event, I dont really want to spend much at all. If I have fun (im sure I will) then I will go from there. First things first. Got stuff to pay for and this isnt exactly a necessity in my life. Id perfer to eat and live in a house than to go motakhana every weekend. Its all to be done as money permits.

While i would have to agree with that in principle its alot like putting your life in somebody Else's hands as you don't know the build quality until it breaks.

So yes it will cost more in the long run to build your own but you will know the car down to the last nut and bolt and you will feel safer.

Just my point of view.....

I believe those things came out with a 3AC and a 4AC later on. Could be good for rallying. There was one on Ebay for 200 and I missed it. I was going to buy it adn take it up to my missus' family farm for trashing.
