ahh.. Will be interesting to see if his does it also.

Might have to start researching in Japanese.. I'm sure they have a gadget to fix it

PS> have spoken to another aristo owner who has this issue... It's an Aristo problem I think we can safely say.

i have fixed this problem by using a supra ecu.

the overdrive light flashes, but that is pretty standard for jz series engines in cressidas so i am not fussed.

otherwise it seems to be working perfectly.

on a side note matty (mr1jz) used this ecu in his aristo, and although a few minor things like air con and trc didn't work, he thought that the supra ecu improved the performance on his car, so i wonder if they are mapped differently or something.

    Update for miss information.

It appears that I do NOT have my SP1 connected. I thought that I had, but in actual fact I don't think I do. I'll be connecting this up tonight hopefully and trying it then.

    Outcome to follow.

Well after connecting SP1 there is no difference in how the engine/auto/ecu behaves... Back to constructing a circuit to fix this blasted problem...

sp1 is the backup spd sensor

sp2+ sp2- is the main speed sensor
so this needs 4 pulses per rev of output shaft

bmw turbo can you please post the circuit diagram you are planning to build?(after you have finished)

the only one i could find was a jaycar one, but would need to get the chip reprogrammed for a small delay BEFORE activating (not hard if you know people with the equiptment, but your circuit sounds like it doesnt need that)

He has SP2 connected, still has the original extension housing, just SP1 wasn't connected.

sp2 is 4 pulses every revolution of the taishaft

sp1 is 4 pulses every revolution of the speedo cable/gear drive

there is a ratio between then its about 3 to 1 or close to that

but sp1 doesnt do jack as long as you have the original sp2 wired up

if the gbox extension housing is factory then it should be there since all those wires are in the factory loom and they dont need wiring up

    so maybe theres another problem

if the overdrive light flashes then that means there is a code in the transmission side of things

leave the car with me for a few months and ill sort it out hehhheehe

I'll post it up if it works PlacentaJuan.

As it turns out if you remove the large interior grey plug from the loom then you disconnect SP1. I wired this up last night and it had no effect on the condition.

Huh? the plug with the bolt? How is your engine running without that plug?! Everything runs through it?

The engine loom consists of two plug in total. a dual 40 pin plug that connects directly to the ECU and teh large square plug that connects in the footwell to the car etc.

There is another 40pin plug that connects to the ECU also that has a lot of the wires you are thinking of I cut the big square plug off and joined the 4-5 wires that were joined directly at this union and then connected everything else up I needed to :- power, main efi, N, 2, R, SP1, tacho, stop, ECT, O/D, K/D etc etc etc.

I mightent have been very clear there sorry.
