hands up those who have exercised a warranty for corrosion damage to their exhaust system?

my only return work was the diff hitting the rear pipeing - and that was fixed for free without question ... i think a refusal to warranty an insulated system would only apply if you have ultra-thin (read: uber cheap and too thin in the first place) zorst piping.

i got my entire zorst manifold and turbo glowing red hot - resulting in the wrap melting into glass - the only failure from that attempt at stupidity was that my own weld-repair failed ... corrosion underneath wrapping isn't really an issue unless the piping is way too thin in the first place.

fwiw: i've used ACL heat shield around the dump pipe ... it cost ~$50 from supacrap for a 290x700mm sheet - i've stood it off the surface of the pipe by about 4-5mm with some bolts welded onto the pipe which also serve as the mnount points for the shield. My quick test (run engine for 2 minutes) was that the dump pipe instantly burnt my finger-tip and the rear-side of the insulation was still cool to touch (which my other finger greater appreciated).
