    Default 18rg Valves

Hey guys just wondering if the 18rg valve are hard to get a hold of and/or if there are some other valves that can fit with little or no mods. cause this dude i brough the head too he's saying it might cost alot if he cant find any. To me a Valve is like a bolt (just need to find one that fits) so i dont see how they can be hard to find.

it's the stem size that makes them a little rare - 8.5mm, which is used by very very few engines.

Valves ARE available, i bought some not too long ago from a parts place in Adelaide (thru ebay). Cant remember the name just now, but a set of exhaust valves was about $40-50

True. I'll keep that in mind if they try to make some money of me, haha.

Youll probably find that the Adelaide place is Sleeka Spares, and he is normally cheaper if you just ring him up rather than go via eBay

because it is going to cost me a fair bit to get it shipped down, i have a head in queensland that is supposed to have exhaustand intake valves and all that holds them down (springs, collets etc.)
if you are interested send me a pm, it might be cheaper for you to pick it up and use it to your hearts content than what it would be for me to ship it down here and use them (it just means i will be on the lookout for some more...which i hope i have found.)
from memory the head is around the brisbane area or the suburbs surrounding it.

oh i asked this once before but didn't really get an answer...mainly because it would be an aftermarket part i assume...but: (someone please correct me if i am wrong, but it is making sense in my head)
if you changed the valve stem guides in the head to accomodate for a larger valve then you could theoretically get many more valves to choose from. ie. change the inner diameter of the existing guide by drilling it out slightly (professionallly of course) to allow for a thicker valve stem.
OR remove the guides, drill out the hole in the head to allow for a thicker guide and then get some custom guides made up that have both a larger external diameter and internal diameter to allow for a thicker valve stem...

I would think any of our Aussie valve makers have made valves for 18R-Gs. They can then make what ever size head you want. May pay a bit more than finding a direct replacement but it may take you a longer time finding them.

Even if you send one of each down they should be able to copy them.
