    Hi,

I built my own way before these other brands were on the market. It looked the goods and ran well, but Dad reckoned it was too big for his old Falcon....

    EMS 8860.

Simple to use, has handset for easy tuning during reccy, right price!, great support from EMS, durable!!!!! for offroad.

purchased 2nd hand from a guy who spent an extra grand putting in a microtech which he had heaps of problems with then tried to buy it back. Weve used the computer on 3 types of engine with no dramas.

Motec... you know why... I would repeat the reasons but I don't want to cause another SM4 vs M800 war.

so the 8860 is worth the money, while the stinger is best avoided?

Ive not used the stinger, we went straight from dualsport to 8860 so cant compare... I can say that we never had a problem with either ECU and the 8860 is good value for money when looking at functionality.

obviously it doesnt have the processing power of the motec, but good value. Havent played seriously with the logger system yet... but soon! soooon!

If you want to learn as you go the megasquirt2 is not only cheap but also very effective. The on line instructions and help are great if you get stuck. The tuning software is also easy to use.

Im in the process of installing one now.

You can usually order ready-made looms for most popular engines when you order the MS2 kit. The 4AGE loom is ridiculously simple.

I'm using a powerfc on the 1J in my wagon, I also have the datalogit interface to enable access to all the functions of the PFC and datalogging.

The datalogit interface is a bit ordinary, but the new universal datalogit interface is a bit better.
