Looks suspiciously like the block coolant drain. You undo the bolt in the middle there and coolant spews forth from the little tap-like doover (that is, of course, if it isn't blocked with rust).
RA45...
pls help... what is the extra thingy below the knocking sensor at the black BEAMS motor? where it connected to?! the pix is attached...![]()

For someone who's seen a few: is there any external difference in the blocks between the FWD and RWD BEAMS motors, or am I right in thinking it's just the head, ECU, and timing? More to the point, would an RS200 Blacktop edition be a bolt-in swap for the MR2 engine, or would there be fabrication of engine mounts involved?
Unsuprisingly, information on these engines isn't just lying around on the net.![]()

Alternatively - if anyone can suggest a good place to find info, I'd be rather grateful.

my mates/bosses car. jap 86 with a beams. made 130 rwkw and still not tuned fully yet (bit of work when theres 4 maps instead of just 2...)
its running adaptronic, which is now completely able to control the dual vvti
we're the qld distributor for them. theyre $1000 rrp
engine uses a custom plenum due to packaging issues.. and also no booster on the brake MC. fire wall and tunnel have also been modified and the sump is still lower than the x member :S engine is lower than the bonnet line but may still foul on support ribbing..
definately quite a tricky engine to fit into a corolla. exteemely tall engine. 6 speed box has a very shallow taper on the bellhousing (which is intergated) which makes fitting really hard too. basically the engine is low enough to clear the bonnet line and far enough back to just fit behind a stock shaped sway bar. even though its rwd there are still a few things to consider, the sump is really designed to work in a car ment to take a "front sump" 6. its offset infront of the engine quite alot.. making fitting it into cars ment for front sump 4s a little difficult. who ever mentioned the ma61 is onto it though, definately a good application. ive seen a mz11 with one in it on yahoo too. very cool.
quick run down on ants car.. runs a mk2 corona diff (sorry mr tomato, but a worthy cause i think) with a 4.3 from a ga70 and a brand new trd 2 way. runs the 6 speed too. will be turbo eventually too (have a blitz turbo kit already here for it). car is an ex OPTION feature car... arrived in australia with an sr20det already fitted and wheels with minus 20 offset.
yes, its a drift car.
if you wont 1 for a mr2 try using the current caldina or rav 4 fwd beams as the rwd 1 will not fit as the cam controller hits the rear strut in the mr2 and its a rwd motor as the sump is set up that way ,by going the fwd motor the sump and pan is set up correctly
