I wouldn't say converting to 2JZ is a step backwards!

Yes the 7M was making mroe grunt 60kW to be exact. It was by no means better to drive, in fact it was farily usless on the street. It chewed a fair but of juice, felt really doughy off boost due to the lack of ignition timing.

Depending on what turbo i go for in the future it'll make that on 15psi easy

    yes Matt its sequential.

wasn't the old 7m-gte making more grunt?
7M was making more power sure, but it used aftermarket turbo, 50% more boost and a long list of mods to do so. This engine currently is dead standard as supplied from toyota, just with a haltech running the show. Similar mods to this current setup would obviously nett a greater return.
I'd rather have a bottle in front of me then a frontal lobotomy

Awesome improvements in midrange - 20+ kW from 2500 to 4000 rpm, although looks to be mostly from earlier spool up looking at the boost graph. Irrespective, definitely worth having.

Hey dori dori, I am seriously considering a 2jzgte conversion to my soarer. I wouldnt mind knowing all the little particulars for this conversion. What crossmember, mounts etc did you use? What car did the engine come out of, sump etc? What gearbox are you running?
    Usual sorts of questions.
Also why did you go for the E11v2 over the E8? Are there not enough outputs to control VVT-i. Makes me wont VVT-i now too

    lol good work,
    Rob

Cheers guys, its good that the conversion is heading in the right direction. Full write up in Zoom magazine (shameful free plug). The best part is that this is only phase one of the build up.

Looks at dyno graph, Adam from Just Engine Management would be a very good guess

The new XR6 turbo's are basically dual VVTi so anyone getting really good results from them would be a good place to start.

I'd suggest Dave Alexander at Silverwater Automotive Services. He's one of the best in the business and really understands how and why everything in the management computer works not just what happens if you tweak it a bit. Plus he's a sponsor so Toymods club members get trade price on the tuning. I am absolutely wrapped with the way my car drives and the power it makes.

yeah but motec are known for not wanting much to do with the average car enthusiast.... their support apparently leaves alot to be desired... (i have no first hand experience though).

Other than MoTec, i know the wolf v500 also supports vvti. Might go talk to a tuner first. SAS sounds like the goods.... just down the m4.

Yeah that sounds more like how I have had Autronics "support" described to me. Aimed at being sold and installed by people who know exactly what they're doing rather than a home user that wants to learn and do it themselves.
