and also falcon500 and possibly TC/TD cortina and ...
if stuck, the bearings from a trailer will also fit - in the trailer section of most stores there's two sizes of trailer hub bearings and you can use the smaller set.
surprised nobody has mentioned this but there are two common steering arm to strut bolt spacings on the smaller early toyotas; one is the @T13# one, which also is the same as a few other cars, and then there is another one which is different from my KE70 and KE36, amongst other things, which is a few mm smaller. I know this is not particularly enlightening or helpful, but it's fcuked me up before and probably others too
what we need is a list of what steering arms everyone is using with this conversion, and hopefully also what length these are from centre to centre (ball joint spindle to tie rod end spindle) to compare against our stock ones on early KE Corollas and the like to find similar length arms to use in the conversion so ackerman, steering ratio and etc. is not fcuked up
EDIT: just read my pile of shit ramble
SHORT VERSION:
What steering arms fit on the Corona struts, and what length are they?
What steering arms do not fit on the Corona struts?

well ive used std RA2X celica ones on mine.
Ive been told if you use RA60 reversed (ie pass on drivers side etc ) that the positive
camber isnt an issue.
Yet to try this but in theory ....

okay a couple of Q's
1. do XT130 and RT132 coronas use the same wheel bearings? coz i forgot which set of struts i have.
2. early in the thread somebody said something about having to get springs custom wound to fit corona perches and ta22 tops. i pulled both my sets of struts apart today and the celica spring seems to fit fine in the corona perch, but it was just sitting there with no pressure. can i just move the corona perch to the desired height and use celica springs?
thanks
Chris
yes to the bearings as the hubs are swappable.

I'am doing a front brake conversion on my RT142 corona have brought some Nissan r32 or 33 brake callipers, which bolt straight up to the strut mounting points, & using a ba falcon rotor, The question being, using ra60 front hubs as a mockup & putting the disc's over the top of the hub i find the disc a few mm below the central section of the calliper ( ie; disc runing to close to the inside pad ) only by a few mm off centre... I can make up a spacer to put between the hub & the disc to raise it, but was wondering if any one knows of another style hub which would raise it that few mm without the spacer .... i'am still going to run it as a 4 stud ....
Thanks in advance .... Rob..
put a spacer washer between caliper and strut mount perhaps.
dont push the disc out ... move the caliper back type thing?

Can't move caliper back as it is mounted on the outer side of the strut. Pretty sure this was resolved in the *A6* brake upgrade thread, as the disc is thinner than the R33 version by 2mm you can put a spacer behind the outer brake pad so the disc if effectively centered in the pads.
Callum
i assembled a corona strut today with a ta22 spring and there were no issues. so just letting everyone know if it hasn't already been mentioned that using standard springs is fine for a ta22.Originally Posted by takai
So here is what i'm planning, can someone please point out any cockups in this
-move corona perches 15mm towards bottom of strut
-cut 50mm out of strut tube
-assemble with sw20 shocks with 20mm spacers and king springs low for ta22
thanks
Chris
EDIT: does anybody have any opinions on king springs low VS pedders sports ryder? also which is cheaper?
Chris, I have done the brake strut conversion countless times. Kings Springs are definately the way to go. The Pedders are just standard height springs re tempered, so you end up with spring binding!
The Kings springs I have used, are the 50mm lowered, to suit the RT132/XT130 struts. Absolutely no problems in fitting, if you use the correct top spring carriage.
I have used the stock length struts, off the shelf inserts, and the Kings Springs to give a ride height, which is about 10mm above the legal lowered limit.
cheers Chuck.

question for those who've gone to lowered springs (but not coilover) with the XT130 strut - how many folks then got RCA's underneath the strut to keep the LCA at a sensible angle?
I've got a set of Pedders reds (yeah - i know, cheap rubbish, but hey, they were free) to go into my set and am tossing up whether to pester someone into making a set for me.
tia,
Charles.
My struts went into to get the chop today and i got the quote back at $200 to shorten the struts and move the perches. This is about twice what i was expecting. What has everyone else paid?
Though i would throw up a couple of pics of my corona strut setup. TIt's made up of Corona struts, ms55 crown hubs, Holden AWD coupe 336mmx 32mm rotors and evo 7 calipers.
