    Default 3tgte conversion

I am starting to fit a 3tgteu to a ta22 celica that had a 3t-c in it. The 3tgte that im putting in has a ct26 so i dont think i should need to move the mounts. I would have thought that since the 3t-c was in there that the 3tgte would bolt straight in.

    see here
    http://users.chariot.net.au/~stmezz/3tginfo.htm

however i have run into a problem. It looks like the mount that are connected to the engine are to angle (close to vertical) compare with the brackets on the crossmember. Any ideas?

    thanks

i used the the original mounts from the 2T and modified the turbo drain so it points up on more of an angle.......problem solved.

the angles of the engine mounts and brackets have been exagerated.

The 2T (or in ur case, 3T) mounts should bolt up to the engine and the crossmember? I've never tried it though, just thought that was what most people did...

That web page is great if you want to put a 3tgte in a TA22 but i can't seem to find any RA28 specific info.

Youll have to let me know how you went.

The easiest way into a RA series celica is to get a TA23 crossmemeber which Toyota used to run out its T series drivelines.

Allows the T series engines to bolt up with original sumps etc.

In the for sale forums there was a guy parting out a TA23, may still have crossmember for sale.

Kugzs - you should (as already pointed out) be able to take the mounts off your original 3T C and fit them to the 3T GTE.
The oil return should pose no problem with that set up. But let me know if it does and I will come over and offer assistance.

IF you need anything done with the oil return you can bring it (and the engine mount) over and I can put it all on a dummy 3T GTE that I have set up in the factory.

    Regards
Jase (ps if I seent this earlier I could've organised to come over tonight).

210rwkw - not bad for a smelly 3TGTE running pump fuel.

    hey jase,
check out my pic in an above post. No lines or anything are in the way, just the angles of the mounts are preventing the the engine from sitting where it should.

The rubber part of the mounts on johns 3tgte were identical to the rubber mounts on mine. Just the metal brackets on which the rubber parts sit are different angles. Ive now got some 2t mounts (just in case the ones that the 3tc were sitting on are different) so ill see how they go.

if i still cant get it right then maybe ill need you to have a look, or if you are passing throuh anytime, let me know and you can have a look anyway.

    cheers

um, the drivers side mount - no prob - you need to bend an oil return out of the way but no issue there.
the passenger side mount is a different story........the oil return goes thru the middle and the return fouls where the rubber insulator bolts up. i cut 20mm off the base of the return pipe and moved it closer in - no problem. needs photoze to explain
