-going to a spring place and getting the swaybar retemped
isn't a swaybar basicly a spring working horisontaly? so the spring works should be able to make it harder to some extent.
-getting the spring works to make me a new swaybar out of thicker steel using the old one as dimentions.

Space might be an issue with twinbars. I was looking at something similar for my hilux. But twin bars might interfere with my torsion bars.

Hi,
I'm with MJH. Get a single thicker bar.

Option 4, buy one from Whiteline, part number BTF65, 22mm dia.
www.whiteline.com.au
To work out increase in stiffness ((New diameter/current diameter)^4)-1.
Whiteline unit is 22mm, i think original is 18mm so:
(22/18)^4=2.23-1=1.23 so 123% increase in stiffness.

make one yourself, then you will know it wont rub on your tyres, and if it oes its your fault.
Is that actualy 123% increase? meaning...double + 23%? or....just 23% increase over standard...Originally Posted by jonra23

123% increase, the -1 in the formula subtracts the current swaybar stiffness.

is it cheaper to buy a whitline or get one made at 123% stiffer? and can the average spring works make one? to a desent quality?
Whiteline list price is $213, doubt if you could get a one off built for that $,
If you go onto whitleine web site ( I posted link earlier), up in the top left put in toyota, then corrloa, then ae82 will show all the items that they sell for your car, click on link for each item and it will show list prices.

We used to do this in the good old days when you could only get bars for popular cars. My friend and I ran twin bars on our Corona Mk2 and Crown. I now just get a bar made up - was about 260.
Given that Whiteline have a listing, I suggest you chat to them and see what combo works. Stiffening the front might just make the AE82 understeer even more. These shopping trolleys used to be raced so there is a bit of knowledge out there.
I ran twin swaybars in the rear of my MX62.
The price was right, and the results seems OK to me
Cheers

on my budget ae71 drifter i run twin bars in the rear, made a noticable difference to handling. cost me $4 for two clamps, already had another standard bar lying around.
Yup, definitely do the rear swaybar rather than the front, makes the car a whole lot more balanced, and can actually get it into oversteer pretty easily. Had a heap of fun in my old AE82 with its whiteline rear barOriginally Posted by gianttomato
