    Default Mechanic Recommendation

    Hi Guys,

I'm having issues with my Solex's in my 18RG (TA22 Celica) running really rich and i don't have the time to play around with them. Can anyone make any recommendations of a good / value for money Carburettor mechanic in and around Sydney's West that can help.

I want to get the car ready for the Celica Appreciation day, but like I said, I don't have the time to play around with it afterwork.

I wish Rodger was up in Sydney, cause I know he's apprently the best guy for the job.

    Can anyone help?

    Cheers

How do you know it's running rich?
Have you tried getting in contact with Rodger and explaining your problem to him?

Might be as simple as changing the main jets or increasing the air correction jets (Weber)

Tim at Carburettor Service has solved most of my problems, I've been going there since 2004. Their shop used to be the whole corner next to the Burwood bus depot on Paramatta road, they moved down the back since a tire shop moved in the front.

Edit: if you bought your celica (green/gray color) from Rabbits on this forum, don't bother taking you car to Carburettor Service as it already been there.

Thanks guys. Yeah I had a chat with Rodger, i wish he was in Sydney. Unfortuatnly I don't have the time to play around with it myself otherwise I would take Rodgers advice.

Before I bought it he did tell me that it had been there before and that they have always left it running rich.

I'm taking it to SAS next week, hopefully they can fix it. I think all it needs is a tune up.

I was just doing some reading if this is rabbits are as w810sc suggest I've just been reading the forsale thread for the car.

Unless the advert was incorrect it appears to be running the wrong size carbies, 2TG ran 40mm Solex, 18R ran 44mm Solex. This could be one of the problems. I've had similar problems with the tuning of my 2TG/3T. What size chokes are in the carbies? As this turn out to be my main problem. What is the current setup in the carby that is jet sizes, pump nozzles, pump stroke, venturi/choke and float level?

Rodger is a great source of information but Solex tuning is similar to webber and there great amount of information around on web for webbers, Happy reading.

    Good Luck
