MR 1JZ - yeah from experience the shelf price varies greatly store to store, but when you include delivery it always works out roughly the same...

Hey squid, \the bolt you used, were they threded all the way or did they have a shank on them like the original ones. Just I am having a small problem finding bolts with a 45mm shank and enough thread for my DMS coil overs. They have camber washers either side which means the standard bolts are aobout 5mm short.

Jeff - The bolts I used were about one thread too short, so some of the strut was overlapping the thread. When I switch to these 185 hubs, I will be using the standard 185 bolts.

is this a safe recipe?..
St185 suspension , use the st185 front hubs (rears with bolt straight in) and theres your new suspension for the st165?.

I have actually changed to that system now - I did so cos I got some 185 hubs already converted for 205 brakes... bt they do bolt up

just checking. so the best way for coilovers at the front is to use st185hubs..? do the st162/5 axels slide straight in...? and all steering ball joints line up...?
might as well use the st185 brakes etc as well yeh?
Can't speak for the 162 stuff lining up, but the 165 stuff does... if the 162 and 165 stuff is the same, then you can draw your conclusions from there.
Yes if you have 185 brakes available too (and they are the twin pot one) I would suggest that you include them in the swap.
I believe some early adm and some jdm models came with the single pot brakes, the same as the 165 ones...

my st165 has twin pot calipers. The st162 hubs will fit, yet some have the camber adjustment, and others dont.

I am about to do suspension work on the car, and have looked at the Tien Global web site... I have found the st185 ..(only do the street damper tiens).. and it says that they only suit RC models......
whats your car squid,.. and what would these differences be....After new sub frame and bushings, I think Id have about 2500 to play with on the suspension.

I am not sure I get your question mate - this one is about fitting the 185 coilovers to the 165.
From memore the reason that tein list the models as only for the RC is that the electronic damper controls don't fit under the std bonnet. Without edc then it should be fine?
