    Racegate or Wastegate?
Wastegate controls the amount of boost a turbo makes by bypassing exhaust gas around the turbo exhaust housing into the exhaust system when boost reaches set level.

Blow Off Valve stops the pressure in inlet tract in front of throttle valve getting too high when engine is at reasonable revs and throttle valve closes ie. take your foot off.

OK - factory BOV is now gone cos it seemed to be a major source of boost leak (I've heard that factory 7M bov's always die).

So i replaced it with a GFB mach1 ... and before you call ricer... yes I know.. but it was a BOV I already had in the garage.
it doesn't seem to affect the running of engine much and I needed a BOV that vented and closed properly to avoid boost leakage.

Anyway - I thought the aftermarket bov with more venting would eliminate the massive turbo flutter - but it didn't?!!

these mach1's claim to be "loudest on the market"... but i can't hear it over my turbo flutter... doesn't sound like its venting much at all.. !..?
I don't wanna ruin my turbo..
Why is turbo flutter still so loud??!

    currently running around 8psi..

That and check that the vaccum line is fuctioning properly (ie getting vaccum! ). Maybe pull it off, put it agains your check give it a quick hard rev and see if you feel any pull. could be that there is a blockage or kink which is stopping the vaccum opening it up. Is there an BOV noise at all?

it is opening.. that we can confirm.
There was a bit of a kink in one of the vacuum lines.. might be worth replacing it.
otherwise.. maybe I'm just not making enough boost for it to open.??

Nathan - we could loosen the spring in it... it is adjustable. But then we found it wasn't closing efficiently..

Perhaps it does make a lot of noise, but requires more boost to do so?

the bigger bov the better... more wank ...

i had a blitz atmo bov lieing around and pulled the trumpet off it and made a flange and plumbed it back, was 100% quiet had it adjusted so i could scare the kids below 8psi and would open and plumb back above that, so theres another option to buying a plumb back, as the ones ive seen are quiet the expensive.
