    riiiiight.
well, the turbosmart plumb back BOVs seem to be rather expensive. I'm willing to spend big dollars on a wastegate, but not on what is essentially a simple spring valve that doesn't have to be heat resistant or anyhting.
Can anyone recommend a place to get a decent, cheap plumb back BOV from? 32+mm.
Preferably as little bling as possible (which was the attraction of the turbosmart sleeper series)

I hate to admit I have them bookmarked, but forums like Skylines Australia & Nissan Silvia Forums are great sources for cheap second hand bits & pieces like this.
Then with a 5 dorra can of matt black spray paint you can stealth up your whole engine bay.

yup - I'm familiar with this noise.. its rather loud on my 7MGTE..

I do worry about the consequences on my turbo considering its already been rebuilt and hi-flowed once ... don't want to have to do it again

But I do worry about this problem when I add a aftermarket BOV.

I wonder which one is better to put up with??

    can I ask for pro's / con's / opinions ??

those forums seem to stock a lot of "FUKN-WHOOSH" BOVs - I'm very much after a plumb back, which are much harder to find

Yeah true, but the for sale sections get heaps of traffic, so something decent should turn up soon.

Keep in mind there are quite a lot of factory turbo engines with no BOV at all (1G-GTE, 3T-GTE, RB30ET) and they don't appear to suffer by its absence.

It's a fallacy. All that happens is compressor surge, and that does nothing except make a funny noise. Manufacturers install BOV's to get rid of that funny noise, nothing more.

ha ha ha Its no fallacy m8 its a FACT that has been proven and im sure if you do a search and read up on the info you will find this out.

p.s if you think compressor surge is nothing but a funny noise you may want to check that one out 2
in short compressor surge is caused by the turbo dropping off the left hand side of the compressor map . this is usually due to the turbo producing a volume of air greater than the engine can swallow

Hey im no expert and will be the first to admit it when im wrong but i have been a mechanic for 8 years and have worked reconditioning turbos for 2 of them years.

The reason why there are alot of factory turbos without BOV is because they run bost levels of 5 -9 psi where causing damage is almost impossible. I would love to see a car run 20+ psi without one.

I would be very concerned about the quality of an IC that fell apart from anything to do with 50psi

I've done plenty of reading don't you worry. If you have any sources of information (not opinions) which supports your theory I'd certainly like to see it though.

Draven just get a nice big turbosmart plumback in sleeper series black. It might cost some money, but atleast you get it right away and it works well.
