TA22 18rg conversion carbie issues

One thing that really helped on my 2TG, rather than rebuilding, we pulled the top off the carbs, pulled every jet visible out and dissassembled them, blew them out and re assembled.

If your carefull you wont need to replace any of the gaskets.

A rebuild will have the same effect, but my 2TG seems to be needing the jets blown out every few months as it spends most of its time on dirt

get the carbs rebuilt and someone who knows what they are doing to tune them properly you will notice the huge difference when tuned .i did this when i did my conversion but i have 40mm webers. dont go to ultra tune again i also replaced mechanical fuel pump with electric pump Steve

Yep, Solexs are great if tuned properly.
I spent the cash to get them tuned properly and after that they were perfect until I sold the car around 10 years later....

As for your problem, take the top cap off and check the jets are tight. This is the only problem I ever had. Every now and then a jet would work loose slightly and would cause the problem you describe.
The first time it happened I tried all sorts of things cause it felt like missing under laod, eg maybe spark etc. But in the end it was only a loose jet.

Best thing is it only takes 2 mins to fix. I assume the 18RG solexs have the same top cover held by one screw, under there you will see what I'm talking about.
