Probably easier to help when you work out what particular model car you are getting.
Local Library is always worth a try, fair few have car manuals and photcopiers.

Not much to be too concerned about with 22RE though - when you remove the engine, remove the loom with it (unplug from ECU and feed through firewall), and then there's only a couple of wires to connect.
