stock camry v6 e153's are underrated in a straight line. with the exception of the BA's 170kw and SV6, theyre faster then commodores and falcons on a year vs year basis. shouldnt be too bad in the new Aurion with the yanks getting mid-high 6's 0-100 in the auto 3.5.Originally Posted by thechuckster

different motor, wont fit. im guessing theyre jza70 discs, stock calipers (brackets were group buyed a while ago.).
psst, the 3vz-fe is a rwd motor, it was adapted to fwd but not everything changed, easily spotted by its oil filter location =)Originally Posted by da_horse

Its one of those things with V6's, they are all thirsty as there a rev engine.Originally Posted by ToyMota 4Runner
if you wacked a sc14 charger on it like im doing to a mates new one, you wont need to rev it as hard to get her up and moving as there is loads of mass to move. Just use the extra torque and shift earlyer and it will be a setup that will use less fuel!
no duh.. but the 3vzfe was originally used in usa mini trucks, then shoved into the camry for 2 years before being replaced by a proper saloon car v6 (less low end torque but more fuel economic the 1mz is). if you have a look at the oil filter on camry's youll note that toyota have used a relocator attachment to clear the now 'front' engine mount (unbolt it, chop it in half, get some 3/8" hose and barbs and you got yaself a super cheap oil filter relocator ^^).Originally Posted by jonra23
Sounds like the same thing with my 4Runner, struggles on some hills but generally a great car/truck! Got an SR5 Ltd with everything plus auto, stock exhaust atm, have priced extractors at around $500, plus around $500 for installation cause it's so tight.
You guys are doing well with fuel economy, usually getting around 16 to 18 L/100km city, which is pretty crap. Looking to do the air box mod and headers which should make a bit of difference.
Cheers

Kingmick, can you point me to who I could get an SC14 supercharger from? I've just bought a 98 Harrier and drove it home from Melbourne on the weekend but she's a portly beast. The 1MZ lacks torque and needs a fair amount of throttle opening so the fuel economy is pretty ordinary. Cruising at 120 up a long hill would see us sliding back to 105 and that was only 2 guys with bugger-all luggage! Apart from that it's awesome to cruise around in.
sorry i missed this question! any of the importers of froncuts etc should have sc14's hanging around.
Cool - thanks for that.
try emailing one of our sponsors, CVAP, he used to have some SC14's in stock. there arent any on his web page but he may have some in his shop unlisted.
cheers
Ok back in the real world again have been offline shall we say. Am XXTREMELY interrested in the SC14 option. I would really love to hear how that goes .
V8Soarer maybe I should get a time on my tug boat round Wakefield. I must clock up on average over 80km per weekend when I work on the track.
I rearely bring a thread back from the dead, but...
ToyMota 4Runner you need to understand that you can't have your cake (power) & eat it too (economy) the majority of the time. Check the o2 sensor output & consider leaning the afm cog a hair... At your own risk. As we all know, running FAR too lean causes backfires. (That's to the guy running n2o too... If you're not running too lean to begin with, you'll never have a backfire. Which isn't a concern with n2o anyway. You'd only use it @ WOT, and the AFM flap would be wide open to begin with, the backfire would jsut run back out the intake. Now at part throttle backfire, that's when the flap can slam shut for an instant.)
The 3vz-e isn't the best engine by any means, but it is definately workable! Sea2SkyTuning has produced 3vz-e cams now. Look into them.
The good thing you can say about the 3vz-e is that it makes so little power, but the fuel system is there to make some pretty descent output, and the horribly (and problematic, as it superheats the #6 cylinder exhaust valves & burns them up.) designed crossover pipe allows for easy turbo installation.
Oh I realised that years ago, but I also know that underpowered cars also chew way more fuel than needed just to keep up.I know that a small block ford engine would produce way more power and torque and yet return way better fuel economy as it wouldnt be working anyway near as hard.
I am not looking at getting way more power but increase it just enough so that I dont have to drive the 3VZE quite as hard.
As for the shocker crossover pipe its long gone and been replaced with custom pipes that join down near the gearbox .
Have even been looking into a rear mount turbo but am curious how that would effect the normal running if I keep the boost down
you a sick puppy putting ford an toyota in the same post!
hence the reason for increasing displacement with the sc14 blower and using the low down torque and not reving the engine to save fuel! then some monkey starts talking crap about NOS and burning valves.
But the is no reason for me explain what i said agian as everyone else understood![]()
Hey KingMick
I was only mentioning the small block ford in a Runner as I know someone who has already done it very successfully and I happen to have a small block in the back shed awaiting a home.
So how goes the SC14 into your mates Runner?I am very interrested in the install of the SC14 . I have had a look under the bonnet of mine and am very interrested as to where you are putting the unit
Stretch
Have not started yet, but had a quick look and there is plent of room. His is about 4 cars away yet.
i was taking the piss about the ford! you either like or hate them![]()
