3SGE G-box onto a 3SFE

Hey

I'd like to know if a 3SGE gearbox would fit onto a 3SFE.
I have an ST162 celica, the ST model with 3SFE, the gearbox is farked, and i have seen a 3SGE gearbox for sale at the right price, would this be a direct bolt.

I have heard that the 3SFE flywheel is different, makin me think other parts are different too.

The difference in the flywheel will be the bolt up PCD - the gearbox will be interchangable, and a direct swap, if the replacent box is also from a Celica, nor an MR2.

Also. Your starter motor will be on the other side. Ie. With the 3sfe, it will be on the gearbox side, however with the 3sge egine, the started motor sits under the headers.

Somehting to think about. make sure that it comes with the starter

ok, thanks, ill look into it, if not 3SGE startes would b readily available i'd think.

Make sure you get a 3sfe st162 box, cos the others fit, but have different final drives
good thing if you want some more go, bad if you care about economy and saving the planet etc

edits: i have re read it and now see that you WANT to put the 3sge box in, my bad

Has it got longer or shorter final drives?
I dont really mind about the ratios, also, if anyone can give me some knowledge on replacing gearboxes in the ST162 it would be appreciated, havent done a FWD before and i have acess to a hoist etc.

sorry dude. Nop pics as yet. Im looking to do almost the same thing. 3sge box to 3sfe box.
