heres another pic as you can see it has a massive hole in the middle but that hole area is still higher than the lower bit on the outside

are they higher compresion than the standed 22r piston??
I think compression is going to be low
mmmm interesting i think it was only slightly lower but like bugger all
what pistons is everyone else using for the 2.2L convo??

Damo,
Those holden pistons have a compression height that is a little under 3mm taller than the 18RG piston. That combined with the large bore will mean that you'll probably have to put a relief ring around the top of the piston so that it clears the head.
The circumference at the head is smaller than the cylinder bore and you'd likely have some interference by increasing the compression height by that much.

anyone got a set of pistons they'd be willing to part with?
'77 RA28LT #2 ← 2.2L 18RG...
just use standed 22r pistons that what in using and they should work fine
yeah... but it's the early ones right? i haven't seen a set anywhere....

These are the pistons I'm using. They are Venolia and give 10.5:1 compression.
The left piston is 18RGEU the middle is the Venolia and the right is 18RC
how much did you pay?? the pics that i posted are 22re ones and i just got them from auto pro cost me 100 bucks
p.s those ones you just posted there for a standed 18rg right??
I got my pistons from Nick Arias 3rd at Atomic Speedware. I have now ordered two sets of custom Arias 18RG pistons through him and have been very pleased by the level of service, attention I received from him.
They weren't expensive either.
I haven't used the pistons yet, but the service was great.
Contact him and see what he can do for you.
