    Default 4age coolant temp sensor/s

ok can anyone please tell me what's the deal with the two sensors in the back of the head/ water outlet.

Are they both coolant temp sensors? are they both the same part?

once again my engine is missing both so i don't know they have different coloured plugs so i imagine that they're two different things but i dunno.

Here's a pic of what i mean (i taxed this pic off here, sorry to who owns it):

One is coolant temp the other is for the control of the cold start injector.

    Obvisouly two different part numbers

Someone will confirm/deny but I think the green one is the temp sensor. I can check when I get home tonight.

    sweet as thanks man,
the only thing now is that the guy at peps only had the coolant temp one and didn't know anything about the cold start injector one? do you reckon i can get it from an auto parts store cause i don't wanna have to go to toyota

EDIT: wait i just thought, the small port ones are most likely the same thing ie:compatible yeah?

Or just don't run the cold start injector. I know plenty of people who don't. They are aimed more at sub-zero starting temps than what you find in Aus.

Also I'd say there are plenty that would be the same. A 4Y-E sensor looks the same at a glance. A trip to pick-a-part should net you more than you could ever use.

I need a working 4AGE bottom end. Pref smallport GZE, but all others considered. Also complete motors.

As Hen said, you won't need the cold start, mine never ran it even with the sotck ECU. Started fine even below zero.

Also, be careful to get the correct plug-type. I know there is a difference between smallport/bigport plugs. The bigport are the square type (like in the photo you posted) and the smallport are more rounded.

The square type green plugs/brown plugs can be interchanged if need be, you just need to mod the plug a little with a sharp knife to remove the notch that stops you from incorrectly mixing them up.

I had to do this because my green plug broke, so I used the brown one on the green plug.

I was talking about plug interchangeability between the square plugs with square plug sensors as they are often brittle and break or are broken

I believe the cold start coolant sensor is the orange/brown one. If you have a wiring diagram, would it be possibly to check the wire colours?

I am pretty sure the coolant is the green one as mine wasn't attached and the engine had trouble idling likely due to it not know the temp of the engine and then just dumping in too much fuel and not knowing what to do.
