    Default Strut Identification

Anyone know what these struts are from? Bought them on the hope that they were XT130/RT132s but they're not.

I'm thinking they might be from an RA60??

    Click for hi-res images.

    Thanks!!

Just had a look at my MA61 and SA63 struts. They are stamped:
    MA61 - TOYOTA JAPAN YC 14
    SA63 - TOYOTA JAPAN YC 09S
but i have no idea what that means...

Thanks Patrick - every bit of info helps.
Besides, when I googled "WK-11K" I got nothing. Now if someone searches for "YC 14" or "YC 09S" they'll be able to ID their struts from your post!!

Peter, if it wasn't midnight I'd be calling right now - will drop you a line tomorrow.

They definitely aren't xt130/rt132 struts. those corona's have a pigtail shaped end coil spring and solid disc brakes.

good chance those struts are either ra60 or mx73. measure the brakes on them mate.

    248mm x 22mm thick (mx73)

    258mm x 20mm thick (ra60/ra65/sa63/MA61)

^^further to that, xA6x struts are not the same strut for Supra and Celica. They have different king pin angle...

I can't remember all the differences in specs exactly but if you use celica struts in a supra you get ~2degrees neg camber

Thanks for the awesome info guys!!!

Just measured a rotor and it's 19mm x 258mm so looks like they are xA6x struts alright. Now just gotta figure out the angle.

Finally managed to get out to the garage and measure the kingpin angle - 9.1 degrees. So that rules out RA60 and RA65 struts.

    I'm starting to think they're from a xT14x Corona.

    Anyone able to confirm/deny?

Casey. Looks like you got done same as I did in buying what should have been XT130 struts. When i got them home turned out to be ST141 struts. 100mm caliper bolt spacing gave it away, no tape measure when collecting, otherwise would not have bought them.

Casey I dont think they are corona as corona run a solid disc not vented. IMO apart from the brakes corona struts are the same as the ra60/5 item
9.1 seems alot closer to 10.6 on the ma61 than the 8.4 ill assume corona is. let me borrow you inclinometer and we can check out all 3 of my cars with corona struts and get some definitive results
and honestly if 9.1 is the number then we'll assume nobody else did like me and put celice brakes onto corona struts and say that they are celica... once mine have been measured

    Cheers,

    Peter

Similar, but thankfully they were sold to me as "probably XT130" so I knew I was taking a risk and didn't pay nearly as much as they tend to go for. All in all, pretty cheap failure, but now I want to know what they are so I can sell them on to someone who can use them.

Sorry to hear you got burned.

Sounds good, mate. Even if only to get kingpin angles for your vehicles out on the 'net. Will bring the inclinometer to Tuesday week's Beer O'clock for you to borrow.

Anyone looking for a good one, I recommend this one:
    http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....E:L:OC:AU:3160

It's not often that I recommend cheap Chinese made consumer electronics, but it's well designed, sturdy, and came with two decent quality lithium batteries.
