running a exedy cushioned Sports Tuff heavy duty 8-puk disc and high clamp force pressure plate (yet to order - will get from NPC in brisbane most likely).
The flywheel came from Direct Clutch Services up in brissy as well.
hopefully it will hold up to teh powahs.
...... butt scratcher?!
Hey!, Witzl. How can you scratch your butt if you have no ring gear ?
What does a ring gear weigh ?
Owen.
i'll be cracking the ring gear off a 2nd hand flywheel, or buying a new one and fitting it.
Apparently its a piece of piss to fit the ring gear.
... so relax everyone![]()

Old gear is easy to remove;just lay the flywheel on the table and start tapping the gear with small hammer.Go around the gear as it moves so it stay straight. When removed heat it some way (100ºC is enough) and it will drop on new flywheel.Have hammer ready if it happen to stuck on the way..
Hey guys, I'm having an issue with oil spraying out the breathers. Any ideas? My post is here: http://www.toymods.org.au/forums/tec...r-g-gurus.html

MOST AWESOME RG RELATED NEWS FOR ME
My search for an RG is over and seems it will only cost me a flight home and transport to Darwin
The reason being is MOST OF MY OLD RG STUFF IS STILL IN A SHED DOWN HOME at the least I have 1 RG block with a set of LOW km chains and guides, TRD oil pump, reco head with OS SS valves Rebuilt SOLEXs Plus all the little bits for the pump drive, manis and what not. Now there may still be 288 or 292 brand new cams cant remember which and 13 hole adj gears, spare full set of rods, pistons and rings, crank, chains , guides, tensioners, timing cover, complete new gasket set, assorted inlet manifolds and custom extractors for the RT40 if im lucky and the exhaust was taken out of the shell before it was sold. Even if i have half of any of that i will be as happy as pedo bear at miss kindy pageantthe mate thats storing it says i have most of it from what he can tell and as a different mate saved the stuff and a differnet one help himself to some bits only the Gbox im led to believe (close ratio rally spec w50 dog box
) i cant be sure whats there till i go down and look myself. If im really lucky theres 4.11 hilux LSD diff center and custom tailshaft somewhere too.
After being stored for nearly a decade ive no idea on the condition of any of this, most good things were wrapped in oily rags and and put in plastic bags but cant be sure it all still is and how long it may not have been.My biggest fear is the head may have been moved several times with some valves open

resulting in bends. Any rubber seals and O-rings maybe perished but thats no that big a deal. Main concern will be corrosion how much and how deep ???? my hand sanded & polished bits will all prob need to be redone.
heres a pic of said motor incase anyone wants a looky
And heres a pick of the RT40 i will be putting it in once i get everything up to darwin
The hard bit now will be disc brake front endwhere am i gunna find one of those.
I know what to look for its where, there wont be any up here in NT i think but i will look i wont have much time in brizzy to look when i go down there and they arent that common
wondering if i can go full custom ?????? and how much itll cost
Okay guys i have some cam questions. I have a pair of cams i've traced back as a set ground for sean malony. There is a 286 and a 312 advertised duration. The person i got them off said the 286 was intake and 312 was exhaust however the cams have marks, which i assume are timing marks, but they don't match the timing card. Looking at the position of the marks they look like they would line up at 12o'clock for opening points if the cams were swapped (312 intake 286 exhaust) is it more likely the higher duration cam should be on the intake? And does anyone have an engine that was built by sean that they could check for cam markings?
