FYI - S53 ST185 and landcruiser speed sensors screw straight onto the factory speedo cable sender on a T50, W55, silvia box etc if you want a bolt on speed sensor.

This is the exact item i replaced with this new modified unit.
This screw on unit works fine but I did not have the room in the transmission tunnel for it to fit on the original speedo drive and was runnig it off a 90 deg bend which just made it stick out the bottom of the car. Not happy with this the above is what I came up with.

For the record the modified speedo drive is still working well without any dramas.

Looking at the photos in the above post with the lugs at the centre facing to the top numbering 1-3 from the left

    1. 12V ignition
    2. Signal
    3. Ground

An alternative more compact sender is this one..

NEW Isuzu Amigo Rodeo Trooper Vehicle Speed Sensor VS | eBay

And it's the same one that the likes of Snake racing sell for $120. Use these with some of the 1UZ into Surf conversions if you want to use the later electronic speedo and don't want to give Mr T your left nut to change the cable to the electronic sender

I do have a couple of senders from the A340 trans left over from some conversions if anyone wants them

Had a look at the above but needed more compact, ended up with a vdo one and relevant adapter key to suit.

    firstly ...bazooka....great work there.

i am lucky to have enough room for the one in the pic got mine from a mx83. i bought a pulse counter from jaycar and trialed it the other arvo works great counts 4 pulses per turn of the sender. i found the wires to be a bit arse about from what has been said. Positive is to one of the outside ones the centre one goes to earth and the other one goes to the pulse counter...that is what works for my counter . so when i am ready just drive it for a k and read what the counter says...

    cheers leso

just found this in my favs...http://www.toymods.org.au/forums/tec...or-wiring.html
