Is the throttle plate stuck open a little?
Hey all,
just finished a conversion on the GZ10 / 1GGTE Gen 3 .... finally ....
we have everything running and car starts. but when it starts it revs up to ~4000rpm and sits there till you shut it off.
Like my MZ11 (1GGTE GEN2) we have and idea that the ICSV is the issue, but on my MZ11 where its stuck open and when started revs up to 3000 rpm then down to 500rpm then up to 3000 again. We ended up "choking" "strangling" the pipe leading from intake to ISCV which fixed this issue.
On the GZ10 / 1GGTE we have done the same to no avail . we have even tryed blocking it off but its still doing it
connecting or disconnecting the 6 pin connector plug to it also does nothing.
What can cause an engine , specifically a 1GGTE to rev up to 4000 rpm and sit there?
We cannot find any air leaks around the plenum after the throttle body either...
HELP!

forgot to hook hose up to brake booster? or any of the other vac hoses?

Nah throttle can click closed just fine and reacts when moving the cable by hand.
Brake booster is connected fine. As is the small nipple on top of throttle body (that leads to a metal pipe that goes along firewall) as are all the nipples on the front of the plenum.
There is also a larger vac style line that leads from under the throttle body to the exhaust cam cover , which is connected.
Wiring wouldnt be an issue would it ????
is this thing related to airleaks after throttle body only?
id be trying to spray all around the intake for air leaks, have you tried adjusting the throttle body air bleed screw?.... also take the screw right out and clean inside there as they get dirty and filled with shit..
good to see you got spark back too, what was it...??
also, make sure the water flow is sufficient and theres no air in the system for the ISCV, thats what can cause them to hunt sometimes too
Yes, air must be getting in somwhere for it too idle that high. Wiring the iscv incorrectly will make if idle up and down as you described, but if you've blocked it off and it's still idling at 4000rpm theres a major vac leak somewhere else.

stupid question but the cold start injector is in place isnt it?
Pandahh : yep the Timing was the dizzy, thats all been fixed . well done on that man thanks for the ideas!.... the ISCV is blocked off so its not related to that ..... also the cold start injector is in place.
im loving this real time assistance guys , stay online plz!!!
ill go check the idle screw in throttle body top....
brb
hahaha... real time assistance.. where are you guys when im at work !!!...
you didnt change the injectors over or anything like that?..

checked idle screw, idle screw had a rubber grommet over it (factory) and i checked its there and hasnt been touched at all
Cannot spot a vac leak anywhere.
only items removed from engine are Throttlebody and iscv ... hrrmmm
if you shine a torch into the throttle body can you actually SEE it close properly... if its not sucking air i bet it doesnt close 100%
edit - you know they got the throttle stop screw dont ya?... thats where im getting at, if someones fiddled with the screw to affect the throttle body linkage (where the cable connects) closing properly thatll cause it to rev high too... or maybe you can adjust it so it closes the butterfly 100%
haha ok
well oddly enough i walked away and the 2 housemates who barely know anything bout this gear had a go and finding shit...
One of them started it, the other felt the AFM for vacuum ... and low and behold its suckin like crazy... if he suffocates it a bit but not completely (or it will die) the engine will run at low RPM..... or whatever it runs at depending on the suffocation of AFM...
So it IS breathing through the butterfly ???? otherwise there would be fuckall suction through the intercooler pathways etc....
were gonna remove the "TWIN TURBO" intake pipe now from the front of the throttlebody and have a looksee....
ok.. got any problems dude gimme another call if you like.. other wise real time toymods akshun continues!!!
ok checked the throttle leaver adjustment screw... it was screwed in further than my MZ11's 1g one was.. so we have "unscrewed" it out so the butterfly "in theory" will close further ??? ......
About to test.
Can anyone answer whats going on re; AFM and hand controlled idle ?
