Bought a 3UZ, it is a mid/rear sump, think I'm going to need a front sump, are they interchangeable,(including pickup) with a 1UZ ??
new project, 3UZ into Porsche 928S
running by Christmas......maybe the next one.
Call a Toyota parts department and see if they'll tell you the part numbers for the sump on both engines.
I reckon they should be interchangable as its the same engine family.
AE93 SX - Thrasher 20V
JZX100 Chaser - Daily 1J lovin
Any one able to get confirmation on this, parts guy i got was borderline brain damaged.
have you tried looking on v-eight.com or lextreme
yeh they say yes but you need an 8mm drill bit...but no reason why you need it.
Will be a weapon with a UZ in it!!
Mates old man has a built 350 chev in one, built back in the 80's.... so totally cool.
I have a healthy love of 928's, after being taken for a strap in a 928 GTS back in the 90's when it was crowned 'Australias fastest production car'.... was only a young fella at the time, but still have the boner to this day....
It will be interchangeable but may need to enlarge a couple of the bolt holes is all.

ok and can any one tell me what sump (front/mid/rear) the LS430 came with? i have been lookin round and cant find it, even went to the dealership but i couldnt see under the car enough to figure out where the sump was in relation to the block.
2002 had this one , 100% interchangeable with 1UZ,
I have had both front and rear 1UZ sumps bolted up to find the best fit, (eventually just modified the original)
You do have to enlarge a couple of the mounting bolt holes in the 1UZ,alloy girdle, easy, as Justin said above, 8mm drill, 2 minutes.(the 3UZ has a couple of heavier diameter bolts,(same locations 1UZ/3UZ-, holes just need to be enlarged a bit)
(it would be real hard to find the sump by looking under a car at a dealers, REAL well hidden surounded by the crossmember.Sump/pan sits in the middle of it)

my 3uz is going into a sprinter and we have fabed all mounts up with a 1uz in it so im hoping that nothing will have to be undone, that we can just unbolt box and sumps and swap em over!

Should have no problem with bolt holes, How are you controling the fly by wire throttle ?

That I havnt figured out yet... Any ways to do it? I been looking at itb's but that was later down the track, unless I make a new manifold with a pair of 1uz tb on it...?!?
Just buy a generic TB and run a cable. FBW is shit anyways

as long as the tps is still there it should be fine yeh? or is ecu getting sig form pedal?
the ECU would be receiving a signal from the pedal, then telling the "electrric TB" what to do.
- you will almost certainly have to keep it to make the stock ECU work
