hey all
im trying to get my 1jz started today but im having some issues, im not totaly sure what its doing yet but as far as i know im not getting any fuel pressure, i dont know if its cause its not getting power or what but im getting no fuel to the engine, its only got 5 Liters as i emptyed it when it was sitting so its got fresh fuel now but yeah
is there a way to just prim the fuel pump or to tell if its even running?
also im yet to put a bridge wire from the factory 7m alternator lead to the 1jz alternator as i was told that i shuold try it first to see if when i connected the loom to the body loom, that it might of been a part there but im thinking ill do it now so i have a length of auto eletronic dudes approved wire, should i just connect it to the usual point with a loop and bolt them together and then just put aonother loop on the other end and put it on the alternator as normal?
cheers

I had a similar problem, in my case 5 liters was not enough.. Go grab another 5 liters and put that in.Originally Posted by LeaThaL
With ignition on you can bridge FP and B+ pins @ the check connector, that should get the pump started, and without the engine running you should soon hear if the fuel is pumping.
good luck

that'd be it
if that doesnt work, its not wired up right probably, you can check the pump itself at it's plug if you feel like pulling everything apart
and check the wiring for the COR (circuit opening relay) if you have one - its there to turn off the fuel pump when the motor isnt running (in case of accident)

well ill go check that now but either way i got some plugs now so ill get a soldering iron and clean it all up once i know its good/no good
will go try it all again now once i find a decent wire to bridge these terminals

ok its official, im not gettin fuel or spark!
im guessing i might not have any power going to the ECU so ill have to go thru tomorrow and solder and crimp up all my wiring to make sure that im getting a nice tight connection with these new navara plugs i have here so its clean and neat and i can know i have a signal and power coming thru!![]()

Sadly a lot of engine conversions don't have the wiring to a level where this will work! The smaller things like this often get skipped is the observation I've madeOriginally Posted by mr2gze
Your problem sounds wiring related to me!

yeah thats what i was thinking also, and i dont have power to my ecu lolOriginally Posted by wilbo666
what wire supplys power to the ECU as i wanna check it before i start redoing it all but either way im gunna solder the wire extensions to the z20 engine plug and crimp them into the plugs and then do the same for the 1jz loom plug just so its all nice and neat and i know that their making a solid connection
if not wilbo im contracting you with beers to help finish it![]()

Which version 1JZ engine ECU do you have?
The pinouts are different for JZZ30 vs JZA70 etc
PS: I'm not in Bris anymore mate, so might not be the best help! lol

if it came out of a soarer they have a funny fuel pump controller? eg - the ecu doesn't just switch the pump directly? (foggilly trying to remember backwards)
its a jza70 loom and i used a jza70 to ma71 set of plans and ive heard from heaps that a ma71 and a mz21 that their almost identical so it seemed pretty good but ill seehow i go with it tomorrowOriginally Posted by wilbo666

ok so this is the story so far, 1jz turns over, gets no fuel or spark, dont have a "check engine" light so from what im told the ECU isnt getting power so this is what i did....
armed with these little buggers, a 7m-gte plug i got off a old loom, a soldering iron, solder, wire cutters and my wiring plans i hit at it again
for the first plug "the engine loom to ecu loom plug" i used a old 7m-gte body loom plug i cut off my old loom, i connected the correct wires and twice checked it, then soldered them giving this result....
once finished i got this which i feel is nice enough to pass what i call "decent"
and then i did the same for the engine to dash loom setup, checked each one twice, soldered them together, made it nice and clean, and used one of my nice new toys to get this result.....
sooooooo IVE STILL GOT NO ECU POWER!!
what else have i missed?, i checked them all and i still dont have a check engine light and im just famboozled now![]()
someone please help![]()

well i will say that the check light doesnt necessarily indicate power, but it should give a general indication that the ECU is powered up WHEN that light is wired up to the dashso check that too

doesn't the ecu send the 'crank' signal to the starter?
that im not quite sure of as ive been told it does send that signal but ive also been told that where ive done the body harness to the ecu, that it gives it power then but yeah :SOriginally Posted by SL666

hmm
i thought that worked more the other way around, the starter sends crank signal to the ECU so it knows to dump fuel in for cold start

Hi..
I haven't read this right thru, but have you sorted the neutral start switch??? ie if auto ecu in use...
Justr a thought
