Yeah, i think i can answer this one for Ed. From the pics ive seen he will be using 4 sets of 2 GTR plates on a custom manifold. Im pretty sure youve seen the GTR throttle plates around somewhere Ben.

    Happy Birthday too.

    ok - i think i solved it!!!

30mm long cranks on 10mm dia shafts

    shaft separation of 77.5mm

    connecting linkage length of 55.1mm

LINEAR 1:1 ratio of angular movement in the range from 14deg to 76deg +- 0.6deg !!!

'wow' i hear you all say!!

but, yes, it is only a 62deg range of motion, not a full 90deg, but i think i can over come this by changing the ratios of the crank lengths at the throttle bodies (turning 62deg of main shaft rotation into 90deg of throttle body shaft rotation). i can probably tweak a bit more out of the 62deg, but it wont be much...

either way, its solved! - no crazy discs or bellcranks or gears. no slop. nice and simple

    I AM hehehe...
I had to get this sorted so that i could finish a CAD diag of the manifold adapter plate. Im trying to include everything into the one plate to keep it simple, and that includes mounting holes for the bearings on which these shafts will run. thats why i needed to figure out how far apart the shafts should be.

freakin complex cad diagram too i should add. bloody 1uz - nothing is symetrical

Are you doing away with the entire vvti intake manifold?

Any chance of a sneak peek? I would love to see what that manifold would look like.

My idea would provide you with a direct link between the two throttles, and provide you with a linier throttle.

and how would you do that?? pls explain? remember - shafts have to counter rotate...

anyway, pic of manifold as requested:

Looking liek a good setup, are you going to angle those runners slightly so that you get a more direct airflow, or is it going to stay pretty much vertical?

the ports on the vvti heads are vertical, and thus that manifold provides direct flow already. looking through an open throttle body, i look straight down the port in the head, and look onto over 80% of the back of the valve face

Ah, i havnt seen a VVTi 1UZ head, and was struggling to remember the angle which the non-VVTi heads are at. Sounds good though, would be more than ideal

ok, for those that were interested...

from one side to the other:

    34mm crank on throttle butterfly
58.24mm linkage to main shaft crank
    45mm main shaft crank
    34mm main shaft inter-link crank
    63.14mm inter-link linkage
back to 34mm main shaft interlink crank
    45mm main shaft crank
58.24mm linkage to crank on throttle butterfly
    34mm crank on throttle butterfly

65.5mm from centreline of throttle axis to centreline of main shaft axis
89mm centre to centre between the main shafts

not sure tis will EVER help anyone, but now its here just in case

    cheers
