anyone else got any opinions wat kinda power u rekon a supercharged 20V would make with correct tune etc
It wouldn't be that hard, due to the inclined ports the supercharger will sit nicely underneath them unlike the 16v.Originally Posted by Pure-SX

You could do either a supercharger or a turbo.
Because the 20v inlet ports are up higher than the 16v and they are angled upwards you can also retain the quad throttles with the supercharger under them. You will still need a plenum and custom pipework.

Thanks to James Cameron's Terminator films, we know that robots are stronger, faster, tougher and more Austrian than the rest of us.
Supercharging it would be cheaper?
Possibly, there really won't be too much difference in the overall price. A turbo car will be quieter and make more power though.
if anyone is PM 'ing ppl details on this i would like one too, as my mate has a BT 20v, and he too wants more guts by going low boosted turbo.
and from that picture given it doesnt look too much work, although cramped in a ae92 engine bay.
microtech - 1K - tuning $600
turbo kit - $ 400
intercooler - $300
throttle body fuel rail - $ 350
piping - $250
so 2.5k for a turbo setup on a 20v , putting out say 110kw at the wheels, thats what a std 16v 4agze does wit moderate mods.
NOW - 2002 WRX STI - WRC Blue 180awkw @ dyno day 20
WAS - 1991 GT4 GRP A no. 68 153awkw, 13psi @ dyno day 18
WAS - RED ST162 JDM 86kw @ dyno day 12
Hrrrm, to turbo or supercharge that is the question..... lol
both will need new ecu
intercooler/piping
fuel work
and a turbo/supercharger
has anyone s/charged a 20V before?
I should be starting on my custom plenum shortly. If it works out and it isn't too much of a PITA to build, I might be persuaded to build up a couple. It won't be cheap though, I'm looking at over $300 in materials.
Just curious as for your reasoning behind this? obviusly aluminium is lighter, but 2" exhaust pipe isnt THAT heavy, and much easier to weld for the DIY types...Originally Posted by hybridaddy

Just looking at that, why the removable lid?

Have a good read of it. I think there are some great photos and build of a custom Plenum in there.

We have done a few 20V turbo conversions and the results are worth the effort, I am fairly sure that we got 160kw at the wheels from Simons @ only 12psi, and it was reliable and good mid range power, having said that we got similar results out of Leightons car with a very SH turbo on a 4agze, will be interesting to see what he gets out of it when the new turbo is fitted to it next week.

If you are going to the trouble of turboing it, why not throw a set of 4AGZE pistons in so you can run some decent boost. Blacktop would need the rods as well of course.

aluminium is a much better conductor of heat and will help with cooling the intake charge as compared to steel.Originally Posted by gearb0x
aluminium is much lighter than steel and it wont rust internally.
