I just threw my Simota filter like the one in your pic in the bin the other night. No particular reason for doing it, just needed the space on the shelf

Lol, RTA regulations can kiss my hairy ass, goooood-bye!!!

And I think the fact that there's oil on my air filters would be the last thing any inspector (cop, RTA, Regency whatever) will be worried about.
The cressida's oiled foam unifilter lives in a standard airbox, so won't get noticed.
And the celica's got an oiled cotton guaze K&N filter, the same type sported by, at a guess, 90% of the defectmobiles out on the roads? I've NEVER heard of anyone being defected for having an oiled K&N, or oiled any filter for that matter.

What type of pod do you use Rona??

The foam ones are not as good. The main reason why is that they can be burnt due to exssive heat, & the holes filtering are not a regular standard allowing more dirt. You are supose to use a special oil for the foam ones which can stick to your AFM if your not careful screwing it up.

The Pod cotton ones have a more consistent filtration but also need a special oil which is thinner and generally do not affect the AFM as much. Apparently the Apexi one does not require any oil and is supose to filter (from a test i saw) very well.

P.S stay away from stainless steel ones as they let particles in as they use no oils. I had one and was getting dirt buildup inside the tubing to the AFM

I've also been defected for having an open pod. If you read my post on rules you will find that they can't actually do that unless it affects the noise of the car. But then try explaining that to a stupid cop!
