great info guys! i have the supra gearbox with the steel sandwich plate. ive been told this is the turbo box?? i thought they were fitted to 7mgte supras but im prolly way off
is there any way to identify the gbox by looking at it? i didnt think that that supra box has any id on the?

anyone have a 2jzgte for sale minus turbos???

You sound like you are way off. The R154 is a big HEAVY mofo and uses a "push" type clutch as opposed to the "pull" of a W58 (more conventional setup).

Does crUZsida still have the W58 variant pic collection?

As draven said. Are you just building this to show off? Or to drag? Or will it actualy be able to take a corner at anything but stopped?

lol, i will be upgrading brakes as such as well. it will be towing bikes, and going to the drags occasionally.
ive got the bikes for corners. im not too concerned about handling as long as its safe.
here are some pics of the gbox. they arent the best but sum1 might be able to identify it for me.

Cool, sounds good. But ahh, bikes don't handle as well as something with 4 wheels. Topgear proved that.

That would be the W58. Has a push clutch and not as big as an R154.

Norbie: He tried the R154 tho and it lost the 2nd gear twice as fast AFAIK/remember. You also dont dump the clutch at 4500RPM at every light too . He's running a power glide now yeah? Its been over 3 years since I've been on there tho so the memory is a bit off. Agreed tho Getrag is tops.

yeah a decent car will out handle a bike all being equal. but a bike is so much more fun and you cant pull decent wheelies in a car (drag cars at the drags excluded)

Pre 1989 = alloy plate
Post 1989 = Steel plate

Steel plate ones have larger input shafts and larger input bearings.
