First have a read of these:
Toyota Engine Codes
Toyota Model Codes
Toyota Diff Codes
Eg the TA22 Toyota Celica (1971-1975), They usually have a 2T engine which is very simple, its the second edition of the T series engine, as soon as you see the 2 you know its 1600cc, If its only T then its 1400cc and if its a 3T then it'll be 1800cc in capacity. Because theres no letters on the end of the code its a SOHC and has a single downdraught/dual barrell carby.
TA22 means the car has a T series engine and is the 22nd edition of the A chassis (2 door coupe, RWD)
Diff codes are a bit more complicated and harder to remember but easy if you know the diff code and have access to a site like the one above. I have a T292 diff (it says so on my build plate) so Its a T series diff (6.7inch), the 29 stands for a ratio of 4.10:1 and the 2 stands for 2 pinion, open/no lSD centre.
What does your build plate say for your diff (axle), Its probably a F series (7.5"), other users will know what you have and what you need to get a LSD centre. If so some of the MA61 early Supras came out with LSD centres, (might be called a F313)
Hope i've helped, Ace
