Im not sure how much help this will be.
I have a 3SGE gen 2, running on get 1 gear/computer.
It pings at lower revs, and only under slight throttle on 10 Degress running 98 octane. I have played with the timing before and found that at 10 degrees is the best that it will run with minimal pinging. Remember to short out some of the pins on the Diagnostic port before setting timing. I forgot to do this once, and the car was running what I thought was 10, but turned out to be more like 17 degrees.
I have a Jaycar fuel adjuster to install to correct this, and hopefully it will fix all the problems.
+18 seems like a LOT of advance, hopefully one of the other 162 fellas will pipe in with what they are running
