    All up about $300 retail.
I know half of those weren't available 2 years ago.
Thanks for that info... Looks like I need to spend more money then..

    G'day all...

I Went to Wholesale Suspension in Penrith, got some prices...

$495 For King Springs (lows, no super lows listed) Installed.
Yet to get pricing for shocks....

There are only KYB's OEM replacements... or there are Tokico Performance ones

Should I still aim for RT142 Replacement Items? Or should I aim for Supra MA61 replacement items? (different part numbers front and rear...)

(apologies for image size...RT142 part numbers vs RA65 Part numbers.. (outlined in red...whats the extra "A" stand for??

(MA61 part numbers... Fronts would be heavier spring rate due to heavier motor, but what about rear end?? )

Although not listed, what are people's thougts on "Super Low" Springs? Is it just for show? Or is there a justifyable reason to ask these of king springs??

I'll keep you all informed with my decisions and plans

Am I being ripped? All advice is welcomed...Is it that hard to install myself?

With bushes, I won't be touching them unless they need attention... then I'll be replacing them with Superpros...

Hmm... sounds like a decent price ... but i recall that repco sell kings springs as well and when they have sales on your could get them cheaper than usual.. I guess you'd need to find out prices on fitting them though... but worth a try, might save some $$

Kings springs are normally about $150 an end.

I wouldn't recommend king springs they aren't stiff enough, the dobinsons in my corona feel stiffer than the king lows in the supra.
    If in doubt power out

Kings claim 33% Increase of stiffness over factory...

7MA61 - are the dobinsons too harsh for road use? Got any pics on how low the celica sits with the kings? ( A rough comparison to ride height...) What shocks have you got in the corona/supra?

I've had experiences with Kings in my BMW (super low) nd my Subaru(standard height and 1" Raised), and found them to be great in both those applications (street use and offroad use). But the beemer had bilstein shocks, and the subaru had KYB Accel G's.

Also got a phone call about the tokico's. Its their performance range of shock absorbers... $200 for fronts, $150 for rears.

Would it be worth my while to change to different front struts from another model car? ie: XT130? To get some negative camber on the front to help with handling? Nothing silly, just enough to help with better turn in? Or should I stick with the RT142 items?

So on top of the $495 for springs front and rear installed, and the front and rear shocks installed, with wheel alignment, comes to a grand total of $845.

    What y'all reckon?

Have anyone had experiences with Jumboz springs? ("Allsprings", Heathcote Road, Liverpool) They custom make coils, and also compress coils to lower heights if required...

thanks all for your thoughts and ideas so far!

I have used jumboz in a few of my cars over the years. They made my 6kg/mm custom springs for the front of my corona and were very helpful when trying to get some konis for my xt130 struts. I think they charge $150 per pair of springs and use kyb's most of the time. Probably cheaper too.

if it is a street car, dont go for more than 2 degrees negative

6 degrees as sam 131 has is pointless, especially for the tyres and springs i assume he is running, all it will do is chew out the tyres quicker and make his brakes more prone too locking

a friend of mine has 5 degrees neg on his DR30... he was only JUST wearing the whole tyre, but he conering speeds were huge and this was race track only...

as for the corona, get some 'custom' springs made up

for street something around 6kg/mm in the front would be a good place to work from

in the rear... hrmmm, a few of the ma61 guys have been ordering 10km/mm springs for the rear, but these arent really designed for road use, go for something about 5kgmm...

you would want to get tokico shocks to suit these springs

also get some decent width wheels and put some good rubber on them and get a wheel alignment (there 2 things are so often over looked when 'making something corner)

meh i got about 6k-8000k's from my last set of front tyres yoko advan semi slicks A032r's with a bogey wheel aliement for half of there life

i personaly would get the custom springs i would go for something like say front 10 to 8 kgs/mm and rear well 9 to 6kgs/mm

i had my springs from my track hoe in the rear of the corona they were 8ish kgs/mm and i thorght it was majorly to soft

you should be able to get a set of custom shocks for not that much either last time i checked it was about 300 a pair for bilstiens and about 400 for konis thats custom made to your specs

meh mabe i do things to much to an extreme but i hate body roll with a passion

Hope you dont mind me posting here Avante.

I also have a corona and looking at suspention. Doing either a 1J or 1G conversion soon. Im going for the s13 coil overs and brakes in the front (will the coil overs cop the weightif i go 1J? 1G is lighter than 22RE isnt it?). Ive already got low kings in the back with stock shocks. What shocks do people recon i should get in the back? Setting up for track...

    Thanks a ton...

i kno this is an old topic, but may as well include my setup (irs rt142)

front: vb commodore king springs (not sure whether they were lows or super lows) cut to roughly 1.5" lower than stock height, with monroe gt gas shocks. also have xt130 control arms (barely noticable neg camber)

rear: ef falcon aurora "towing" springs, cut to roughly 1" lower than stock height, with stock shocks. also have double swaybar.

this setups pretty good, still have to upgrade rear shocks and front swaybar.

its dodgy no two ways about it but hey it works at times.

most times ive seen it they have hoseclamped another stock unit under the orig one, some also go to the effort of cutting off the ring ends too.

whiteline 200 odd bucks later and job done properly (and hey there adjustable)

    cheers

    I have in my Corona:

6kg/mm front AJPS springs and short stroke KYB dampers.
4.5kg/mm rear AJPS springs and normal stroke dampers, Even though the rear springs are 2 inch's lower normal stroke dampers won't bottom out.

    Stock bush's and sway bars.

The only thing i would replace now are the bush's and a tiny bit more camber on the front.

Yeah ive got an adjustable Kmac sway bar in the rear works pretty well.. Need to learn how to adjust it properly though.. Gonna get one for the front soon too...

How do the 6kg springs feel? Ive decided to keep this car for street only and maybe the odd skid pan day so i wont something comfortable but still handle well.. Its got bilstien shocks in it so it handles nice. Just dont know about spring rates yet...

    Thanks,

    Chris.
