Hi Guys.
I have a bit of a dilemma. I have a manifold that is going onto a head, the manifold has some low spots on it, nothing too drastic.
The type of gasket is a metal one with black lining, I believe some sort of urethane or plastic.
I have enquired about RTV, which I got told by Permatex and Loctite can have issues adhering to the gasket if I used it to fill the low spots,
and got told to use an aviation type non hardening sealant instead, the ones that are found on those little small bottles.
This area see's boost and coolant aswell - I was afraid that the boost could blow out the soft non hardening aviation sealant, I have before used this for water pumps and had a leak which is why I wasn't really too keen on it.
So I'm wondering have any of you guys often used something in this exact scenario, where you are still using a gasket of this description
but need to put some sealant here and there, what do you use?
I have reused metal gasket/polymer coatings heaps of times with a thin smear of ultra black or grey.
You could also consider having the mating face decked at minimal cost for reassurance.
