I have a single 12" Davies Craig fan on my alloy rad in the RA23..... which has a BEAMS 3S-GE.
No shroud, pull through (Davies Craig fans can flip the blades to be pull or push).

Steady as a rock temps, even on 35º days in stop start traffic.
It's triggered by the ECU to come on at 90º, and off at 85º iirc....... the tuner set it up so i cant remember. Either way it's solid.
    ...... butt scratcher?!

It's true that thermofans really only help when stationary or at low speed. As soon as you get some decent speed up (30km/h??) the natural airflow will mean a fan is not doing much to help.

And I'm not sure if I've misunderstood what you've written, but using a push fan you always mount it on the front of the radiator, and a pull on the back. So fan flow direction always matches natural flow direction.
I need a working 4AGE bottom end. Pref smallport GZE, but all others considered. Also complete motors.
Drift Volvo. Was fun. 2JZ next time.

What I meant was, that the push (front mount) would hinder the flowing air into the core at higher speed. As opposed to the pull (rear mount) which I believe should have a limited effect on the flow of natural air.

Good to hear a 12 " is adequate for cooling. I feel confident my new setup should be fine also.
I will have the fans triggered from the ECU also. Can't wait to the weekend to fit this thing.
