    just to add.
I tried HPR30 in my car this time (previous oil HPR15)
there is no longer any startup noise.
there is better oil pressure at idle (according to standard guage on the dash).
it feels about the same in general driving.

it is harder to start and stutters for about the first 15 seconds before it gets a consistent 1000rpm idle (it could be from the cold weather but it correlates to when i changed the oil).

I am yet to do a compression check (to see if the thicker oil seals the rings differently).

so for the moment, if i can work out if the starting is because of the oil or another factor then HPR30 is not too bad.

I only use Gulf Western "Protecta" Semi-Sythetic 15W-50 oil in my 18R-GEU.

It works beautifully, both before and after the rebuild.
If you are in Sydney, contact "Toobs" on the forums for cheap cheap suppry.... it's well worth buying 20L at a time!!
    ...... butt scratcher?!
