    Default KE55 Engine Conversion :)

    Hi guys,

I guess I am the new kid on the block. Been seeking a KE for a little while now and two weeks ago picked up an auto KE55, 135000km 1 owner. Little bit of rust on the rear arches, but nothing to worry about. Engine is still pretty good.

It was purchased for the sole intention of a conversion, and now I am in a little pickle.

I have a S4 13B turbo that my brother just finished building but is not sure if he wants to put it back in his rx7. And I also have an imported MA70 1GG with some front damage that my uncle no longer wants. I also have a VR commodore diff with mini spool and a T5 box.

    Three possible options for me.
    1: 13BT with rx7 5 speed and rx7 LSD
2: 1GG with w58 (i think that is what it is) 5 speed and one of the diffs
3: Ecotec with the commodore 5 speed and commodore diff.

Been reading heaps and they all sound pretty good (okay well the ecotec is not, but it is the cheapest option for me, unless i grab the MA70 and wreck it)

I will be doing the rust this weekend or at least starting and shall have the engine out of the car the week after. Already purchased a manual pedal box and another steering box so hopefully one of them has no play in the centre (or minimal).

    Will get pics up soon.

Option 1 as best weight balance for cornering. Yes its not Toyota but would be a fun drive. The ecotec will be a heavy pig but would make for a cheap burnout machine as replacement motors would be very cheap and easy to come by.

Yeah that is what I am trying to lean towards, just have to convince my little brother. His rx7 has been apart for over a year now so not sure he is gonna get it back together.

It will very fun to drive, should make 300-350rwhp so in a 900kg car should be a little mental. Heck the 1GG will be super fun also.

Well I dont want a heavy pig, I do want to drive this and have fun not just rip skids, I am too old for that now. So I guess ecotec is out of the question.

is the KE55 heavy enough to accept a 2.6L turbo?

    I grabbed my diff today.

We dragged the commodore out of the paddock with the tractor and flipped it on its roof with the bobcat.

Doing things upside down was soooo much easier. Unbolt / cut off everything that it holding it in and then just lift it out with the tractor.

Voila Diff ready to be shortened.
