Thanks for the input here men. Appreciate it. Finally got some time to check things further today and it's all a bit beyond me. I've decided to see an auto electrician cause like I say there's a few wiring issues with the car i.e. the speedo, tacho, reverse lights, the thing that stops it starting in gear (it's an auto) all don't work, the fuel gauge blinks every now and then plus shows no fuel quite often though if I may borrow a line from James May "the clock is correct!" Wilbo I've a feeling the latter of what you said may be true.

Anyone recommend an auto electrician in the Newcastle area ?

unless u find an auto elect that knows abit about conversions
the u will pay about 500 bucks for then to learn what to do

no one will have diagram for your car so they will spend hours figouring out what to do

fk me I need to raise my prices
I think he upped his rate cause it would have a prick of a job

if u can get it to qld I can fix it for less than that and shouldn't take to long
if the job hasn't been butchered
if it's butchered I won't touch it or put my name to it

That's is going to add up to some big coin very quickly ..

As dumbass said I'm sure that's his it's going to be a pain in the ass job price & if I get it I'm making good money & hopefully at that price the guy will walk away ..

The joys of a cheaply / poorly done conversion ..

Temp sender wise I would do as dumbass said & just put the sender unit in the top hose with those after market sleeve fittings you can buy ..

I find it hard to get thru to half the guys that nearly die when I give them a price
I say well go somewhere else or do it yourself
and then I say but if u do it yourself or take it elsewhere I will double my price
once job is done and they got fkt around then ring me and wonder why im pissed off

It must be satisfying for you to do the work, but also frustrating when they go away to do it "cheaper" & then come back with a half baked job, but as you said if its really bad you just send them away for good ..

At the end of the day most of us are driven by the dollar & if someone think's there is cheaper way to do it a lot of us go that way, but in the end it can come at a cost too ..

It's a shame I'm not in Queensland dumbass or I'd be at your front door. Madmont I've found the sensor or at least what I believe is the sensor in that general area. It appears to me that it's all connected to the ecu but not connected to the temp gauge itself. I'm assuming either rightly or wrongly that it goes from temp sensor into ecu, out of ecu into gauge.

Got another quote today. To get the speedo, tacho, temp gauge, the thing that stops it starting in drive and the reversing lights working I was told not expect much change from $1000-00. Was told it's a couple of days work.

shit for 1g ill rewire the whole motor and get everything working properly hehe
I hate fixing someone elses fk ups so I normally know this type of work back
I normally say its my way or the highway hahaha

there should be 2 sensors there
one for ecu one for temp gauge
if there is only only one u need to dril and tap a hole and fit one no other way around it
then u need relay wired it for inhibitor
is your speedometer cable or electric this will determine if u need to work on gbox or on electricals
tacho u will need a tacho module or you need to mod your tacho no other way around it

all wiring is behind glovebox so if they start digging round elsewhere then they will take ages

dumbass thanks for the info and the offer. Think I'll just get the last bloke who quoted to do it. It's a reasonably small price to pay for peace of mind or so the saying goes. He works on conversions etc and clearly knew what he was talking about whereas the others were not so clear or didn't want to do it at all.
