how about building a 18RG like this

Dear god, they're woefully inadequate! Even my RA60's brakes aren't much to write home about and they're miles better. Sure they stop...but they only do it once.

Thanks guys!
All good so far. Just waiting on a reply from a friend in regards to a 1G-GTE. Anyone know of someone in perth that is familiar with the wiring? Also is there any prefernance / difference between the w5x gearboxs?
Thanks
PS: I will be submiting the forms to the council soon! It should be full steam ahead shorlty!
CrUziDa would probly do your wiring. either that or get the diagrams and suss it out yourself
hello
Are then any real differences between 1G-GTE and the 1G-GZE in terms of installing and upgrades required. I saw a 1G-GZE for sale this morning. I don't see many posts / threads with this type of engine mentioned. Are there any problems with this enginge? What engine would you choose?!
Chears guys
Anson
Hi Anson
obvious difference is the GTE is turbo and the GZE is supercharged. I have made some enquires into this engine myself and have been told they are tuff motor but hard as hell to get
your hands on. If I was to choose between the two I go for the GZE to avoid the hassle of
turbos.
my experience with turbos is limited, only had one car that was factory turbo. I'd prefer
to have the extra grunt in in the low end rather than the top end where turbo's work.
Turbos rely on the exaust and need to spin up to provide to boost (lag time) where superchargers dont because there driven by a belt. They will suck some HP off your motor but will put more back afterwards. about a 30% gain give or take.
but superchargers last the longest and doesnt need much piping and bits its almost like a bolt on performance compared to turbos i suppose.
there good points i missed. plus less extra heat build up under the bonnet.
The innefficiency of superchargers require more fuel to be provided to produce the same performance gains. This also means there is more bottom end stress for the same gains. So, supercharged engines require larger injectors, larger fuel pumps, as such draw more power from your alternator, so your alternator works harder, your bearings and rings also work harder etc etc. A supercharger will also produce heat from the gas compression process, which will result in the requirement of similar amounts of plumbing as a turbo to get any real performance from it. The supercharger requries a gimble belt drive, so you need an inch or more wide belt hanging off the front, extending the length of the motor, and the super charger needs to sit somewhere inline with the alternator, power steering pump and air con pump, thus limiting the space available. Turbos when setup correctly can be made to provide good boost at low rpm, and therefore the lag will only be a PITA on initial takeoff, and be negligible on gear change. To further reduce lag, you can opt for a ball bearing turbo.
So, as stated by others, superchargers do have advantages, but this is mostly over poorly setup turbocharger systems. Brett_celicacoupe didnt seem to have any performance problems in his 1GGTE powered RA40, and his motor is stock other than an intercooler and a home made dual stage boost controller.
I think either motor would be fantastic and youll love it, but they both have their own unique advantages.

i fully agree i have seen endless arguements about superchargers vs turbo, they are like holden vs fordOriginally Posted by o_man_ra23
Take that back... they are not the same argument!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Originally Posted by pwrn
