    Default CA18DET timing

Not really sure if this is going to be an issue but I'm sure somebody here will have a good idea (Cuzzo?)

I've got a CA in a KE70, to cut to the chase it has N/A pistons (9.5:1 comp), a 1.2mm head gasket (havn't worked out what the comp is yet). It runs like a dog down low, can't give it any more than 1/4 throttle before it starts backfiring etc. Up around 4000rpm it picks up and it's a bit better, but bogs down at full throttle.

Have checked the timing, with the crank lined up at 0 degrees, the inlet cam is 1 tooth retarded, and the exhaust cam is correct. Is there any reason why the previous owner would of set it up like this? Somebody has notched in a mark below the factory marker on the inlet cam so it was definitely done on purpose. I'm going to put it back to factory and see how it goes, just wanted to ask the question in case I'm missing something. (maybe the previous owner wanted a bit more top end power? Only reason we could think of).

Didn't really notice it at wakefield, seemed to pretty well at 5000rpm +, wasn't like we were putting around at school zone speed then

If the cams were aftermarket maybe that is how the cams were dialed in.
However I would be putting it back as to stock if I were you.

Additionally, good work, I did a CA18 into ksev conversion about 18 months ago, it was always going to be a POS but it was cool and went well.

Came around, had it sorted in 25mins.
Little tricky as you have to set the cams a little advanced and then use the tensioner to dial it in but all good.

Will find out tomorrow how it runs when timed
