Default Re-connecting some wiring the past owner had done (Air-con)

Ok, this is a long shot.. :/ Help needed with some wiring.
When I got my car, the last owner said that the air-con control panel screwed up and the auto electrician wired in a switch to turn it on (max fan speed only), and to change from hot to cold was done manually under the hood.

Finally picked up a working panel the other day and plugged it in. I can now change from hot to cold, and after plugging in a big white plug (3) allowed the A/C and Econ buttons to work (I assume they work rather than just light up when pressed lol).
I still need to turn the air-con on via the switch and can't control fan speed.

So.. I plugged in (3), I assume (2) and (1) should be plugged in as well.
Also I've figured out where I should re-connect about 5 wires that have been cut/spliced.

I figured out where I should re-connect about 5-6 other wires.

Now, my main problem is the (A) wires appear to be the same! What do?!
The (B) wires appear to go together, the (C) wire is spliced into something, and I've no idea where the (D) plug goes.

Dumbass, He's trying to wire it back to factory/standard by the looks of it - hence the whole reason for this thread I assume...

How can he wire it back to standard and find where the main fault is if he has no idea what he's doing and came here to ask how to do that to begin with?
He can't wire things up due to the dodgy auto elec as mentioned earlier in his post.
He posted this thread to ask how to re-wire it as a factory setup from what I gather...

Also, Skobb - What kinda car is that anyway? It'd be helpful you realize if you tell us this kind of stuff.

What make, model, year, engine, and so on.

Sorry, always forget one of the most important parts lol
    Toyota Carina ED ST183, 92', 3S-FE Auto
As far as I can tell the car is pretty much all stock.

Didn't occur to me that plug (D) could be for a speaker, thanks. My car has the upgraded 6" splits in the doors from factory, I assume the (D) plug is a leftover from where the stock speaker would have been next to the glove box.

Last owner said air-con stuffed up, so they paid an auto electrician to rig up the air-con to be turned on and off by a separate switch. Hot and cold was controlled under the hood by pushing a lever.

Although a guess, I'm pretty sure I can get it back to original by plugging in the plugs (1, 2, 3) and re-connecting 5-6 wires which I've matched up.
My main issue is that I have no idea what is going on with the 3 (A) wires.

Another picture of the whole lot. The black thing seems to be some sort of gate. Pretty sure it's stock as a few wires from it match wires that are severed.
