Interesting, wouldn't happen to be able to get the actual specs on them would you? I've got a set of Gen3 1GGTE cams and some Gen2 1GGE cams i'm planning to try later on.

Well fellas I got some good news...I spoke to Peter from Waggot cams and basically he can do the 1G cams for us. All you have to do is give him a call on the number 0266283795 that CruZida provided and tell him some info where your cams are dialled in before you remove them.. Now I don't know too much about Overhead Cams but the end result is for about $700 dollars all our 1G engines can benefits from punchier bottom end (read less lag) and a stronger midrange. Peter also mentioned by using a Dual patterned grind you can achieve this without sacrificing top end. This would be great for people with stock turbos and even for JCMF and my self with upgraded Blitz BAG CT12's... since the CT12 aren't too efficient anyways up top. Also when you put the cams back in you have to check the Shim clearance and you will probably need to change the shims to archive appropriate clearance with the new cams. He told me this is not too much of a problem as many shims are universal and can be found with the clearances we require.
So if anyone is interested I am trying to organise a group buy so maybe we can negotiate that price.

Not in the budget sorry dude, to get everything else i'm after, i'm limited to using the 1GGE cams I already own. Good luck with it though.

I tried ringing and got no answer. I was going to get a price on some 1jz cams as I have a spare set. Will try again tomorrow. Can a 1jz guy jump in on a 1g cam GB? It is still a 6 cyl DOHC.

Chris if you do get positive feedback from Peter at Waggot cams see if we gain anything doing a group buy as i like to drop the price down a bit....

As a group buy $700 is quite cheap considering I paid $1200 for my cams to be rebuilt and regrinded... oh well ...bargains like these alway tend to show up after you've done/bought something..

Ok, just got through to Waggot Cams.

He said that you have two options:

    1. weld the lobes up and then get reground to whatever profile you want. THis costs $45 per lobe or $1080 total.

    2. take something like 1mm off the base, get some thicker shims to make sure the clearance is within tolerance (he said about .060") This would cost about $250 he said.

So I am correct in assuming that if you were to go option 2, then there would not be any extra duration but there would be additional lift by whatever the amount ground off the base circle is?

Additional lift is good for low to mid end torque AFAIK and more duration works better in the upper rev range.

I know this doesn't help you guys but I was also looking at getting US 2jz cams which have an extra .5mm lift and 10deg duration and they cost about the same as option 2.

So blk 1g-gte, what did he say he was going to do for $700? I think I spoke to John not Peter.
