All will be revealed, but currently weighing up SC versus T on a 4A (20v) for 250hp (flywheel)....razor sharp response is vital so may even be better off going 7A bottom end and 9000rpm?

If you value response above all else I would suggest a 9A stroker with a 20v head and a twinscrew. but that is going pretty extreme7A bottom end is easy enough to do though.
new turbos are pretty epic. harreh was able to get his borg warner up to 23psi at 3500rpm the other day. that's a turbo that is capable of making 250-300kw, sitting on an 8:1 bigport 4A !!

In truth though, that is exactly the setup i was considering....i haven't started the 20v head on 7A block how to search yet but i'm sure there's plenty of info out there and Baz with all the required parts?

It's all fairly straightforward build-wise, the only hard part is the hit on the walleti'm up to ~$8000 in parts
You dont need to spend that much of course, but it's pretty easy to get carried away lol. And I didn't even opt for the dry sump!
yeh that's hefty....i'm coming form the UZ though where everything was pretty much x2 though remember...i throw my receipts away, i just don't want to know (plus the missus can't find them then)

Yeah look in reality even my full retard build is still not that much in the grand scheme of things when you compare it to rebuilding an RB26 or a 1UZ something haha :/ at least there is only one head/manifold/turbo etc to spend on for a 4A.
you can get a 6.2L SCAT stroker kit for an LS1 for like 3K you know
some other food for thought - with E85, 14:1 comp and the 9A kit, I wouldn't put ~200rwkw N/A in the realm of impossibility....

From what you've said, it sounds like I'll be on the right track with the TD04 - though I'll take the "safety option" of some 8.9:1 GZE pistons and try to bump the compression a little above that.

Each to their own I suppose, but regardless of turbo choice, you could do no better than a factory built smallport as hardware. As bullet proof as bullet proof gets and the C/R is perfect out of the box for what your looking to do.
Can you still get a GZE short block from Toyota by any chance? Anyone tried Mal the magician here in Canberra?

Yep they are still available, Castle Hill Toyota can get them, so I don't see why Mal can't.
