In my experience, the Xtreme brand is another product that has been modified to increase the clamp pressure or similar. I don't know about the flywheels though... I think they just sell them as a part of the brand to make the decision easier on people?

A very good source that hasn't been mentioned yet is Alloy Race Components in Melbourne. They are sold through Meridian Motorsport. A friend has one of their 3.6kg cro-mo flywheels on a stock 4AGE in a road car and loves the difference it made.

    From memory around $660 RRP.

Yeah, i think ARC make the chromoly ones for Xtreme, and Fidanza make the ally ones.

wow that makes $420 for the cro-moly one from Xtreme seem like a great deal....I wonder what Xtreme buy them for in that case,,,,

I own one of these in my AE86 road/track car.
Made taking off uphill smoothly harder. Its not like it would stall, its just a bit hard to do it smoothly without slipping the clutch.
The difference it made in acceleration is well worth it though, like Bill said I havent noticed any difference going uphill, I find it actually a bit better uphill.
Towards the end of 3rd gear and going into 4th gear (4.1 diff ratio, stock T50) is where I find it to have the most effect. It feels like its using closer ratios almost as there is less time for the rev's to start building up changing gears.

You do get a few rattles and whines coming from the flywheel, but this is the only real downside other than losing a bit of driveability.

so lightened flywheel in a light car in comparison to the output of the engine would be best for a light flywheel. seeings as the engine loses some momentum, so if you rely on the heavy flywheel to get your heavy car moving not a good idea?
    if i make sense...

yup, and since the effect of the flywheel is an effective weight the car has to push (decreasing as you go up in gears) a 9kg flywheel on a 4A in a sprinter will have more effect than a 9kg flywheel on a 1UZ in a soarer... and so you would notice more of an accelerating effect.. but heavier car may be harder to start from stop.

even tho you've been drinking.. it makes sense

Thought I'd drag this thread up, just got the Xtreme Flywheel for my 4AGE. It's to suit the 215mm clutch disc from the later 4AGEs (AE92/AE101/AE111). I got the cro-moly one (FTY007C) and it's a really nice looking piece of gear. It's similar in design to the Blacktop flywheel, with far more lightening performed. Apparently it's 3.6Kg and it feels about that with my "hand scales". I'm going to weigh it at work to get an exact figure. Here's some pics:

A word of warning to those wishing to purchase this flywheel, Xtreme stuffed up on their website and listed the wrong part number. They list the FTY009C as the one to suit the 215mm clutch, but it's really for the AE86 six 200mm clutch. The FTY007C is for the later 4AGEs. Took a week turnaround to work that one out....I've also picked up some ARP flywheel bolts and some fresh pressure plate bolts from toyota to make it all nice and fresh.
