Bring this thread back up again...

Would a lightened flywheel have a possitive effect on my RT142?

The car isnt near as light as an old celica or sprinter and the motor doesnt rev near as much as a 4a etc either. Does that mean im better off with a not so light flywheel?

    Thanks,

    Chris.

    What engine? 22RE?

I'm wondering - is there any reason why a light CroMo aftermarket flywheel wouldn't be as strong as a stock one? If bought secondhand, should it be tested properly somehow or just visibly checked? Have a nice light one for the 1G...

    Yeah its a 22re, hence RT142 not ST141

Pisso, the benefit of a light flywheel increases with revs. You probably won't notice the difference around 1500-2500 RPM, but when taking it out to 8000 it sure helps.

So while a light flywheel will still improve things, it is probably not the best bang for buck on a low revving 22RE.

I need a working 4AGE bottom end. Pref smallport GZE, but all others considered. Also complete motors.
Drift Volvo. Was fun. 2JZ next time.

But then again would a lighter flywheel in my situation help the engine rev more freely at its low rev range?

    Thanks,

    Chris.

I would like to get one of these for my engine one day,

But at 450 Eur +80 Eur shipping it will make a bigger hole in my pocket... mind you there is already a massive hole

    2.4kg excluding ring gear.

Digging up an old thread just for fun.

Wondering on peoples recommendations for a 224/230mm lightened flywheel and clutch kit for a 4AGZE. Or at least perhaps the best place to get one... http://www.nengun.com/drivetrain don't look too bad although perhaps a bit expensive for the flywheel and clutch kits combined.
