18RC playing up.

Alrighty, I'll start out by saying this car has had this problem that I'm about to explain for awhile, I've just never bothered to try fix it until I finally got so annoyed yesterday that I'd give it a go.
Problem: She idles fine, Drives fine etc... Aslong as I don't floor it. Whenever I floor it, It throws me back in the seat and has decent power for an RC, This lasts a few seconds then suddenly... Nothing. As if the engine died, Pumping throttle does nothing. Stays that way for a few seconds then BAM! power again.
It'll keep doing that all down the road if I keep my foot flat to the floor but if I drive like a nanna half throttling it's fine. It's just on and off when full or close to full throttle.

So, First I thought it was starving of fuel, So I checked the fuel bowl at idle and it was a bit low. I adjusted the float to fill the bowl up closer to the top of the little window. Went for a test drive, Same deal...
Then thought it could be the fuel pump is fucked and not keeping up, So I bolted on a new one I had lying in the shed. Same same...
Maybe the coil was fucked? Swapped it out... Nope.
Maybe timings out. Got a timing light onto it... Nope.

Any ideas? O___o

I trust you have put a new fuel filter on. Checked that the fuel tank is clean and fuel line is not partially blocked. If all that is ok then I would suggest that its time to look at a car by overhaul cause it sounds like your accelerator pump jet is working but your main jet is blocked or restricted

If you're only having issues when not accelerating and idling- then as Dave said above- check your jets!
Maybe run some carbie cleaner through it if you're lazy, see if that helps... if not, then it's time to pull that bitch apart and have a peek.

If that is the problem, I'd also be looking at why it got clogged in the first place.

Alright, I'll have a go at cleaning it. I'm not the best with the aisan cabries, I've only really worked with webers and solexs so don't know much about them. If it frustrates me enough I'll just get a sidedraft for it as I have the manifold

All good folks. Pulled the top off of the carby again but cleaned it with some carby cleaner and a tooth brush Started her up and she ran great. Gave her another tune, took the missus for a spin in the "Piece of shit" as she called it and managed to change her mind about that. Should be a good run about car when doing major work to my coupe.
