aside from my "rant" as it has been described:

if i could just add a point of constructive criticism , and hopefully not get ANOTHER neg rep for simply voicing my opinion, i take it many people here use ebay.. well on ebay you have a rating , which can be related to the rep system in many ways , but the rating is on a percentage base , everyone starts off with 100% and loses creditation for bad responses, and ALL of the responses to this persons actions are available to the general users and to my knowledge arent modifyable. IN MY OPINION this would be of some help if you could actually browse the feedback left on a persons "rep" form (or whatever you want to call it) so that individuals can be the judge of what positive/negative rep points have been based on. this would help us see which people are (yes this is my theory) banding together and building each other's rep, aswell and bringing a particular other persons rep down...

im getting tired of being given neg rep for simply voicing my opinion , while seeing people that post absolutely (yes my OPINION once again) useless and bandwidth wasting information and speils. and i DO know that a particular person and his mates do have something against me, which you all have no idea of cos it happened in the actual real world and was nothing to do with this forum, bringing me down on this forum is just a way of getting at me, as far as i see it.

i DO post valuable information on here and i DO get on here at very late hours and every chance i get to post in tech and other sections to try and help others, as i always have done since toymods first started!

i do understand that not every person in a community can agree on one thing , but hell why shoot me in the foot for voicing my opinion.

People weren't shooting you down for voicing your opinion for the most part. The problem you had in this particular thread is you chose to mouth off about the rep system without understanding it. By that, you also managed to say something that isn't physically possible happened which doesn't bode well for your credibility. Joshitix pointed this out for you rather clearly.

Kudos to you for posting good information. If you do so, I and others would positive rep you, that's how it works. If no one does, perhaps they thought it wasn't worth the rep. If you see one of these people "wasting bandwidth" as you put it, negative rep them. It's what it's there for. That's how it works. I personally am not one to negative rep much, it has to be earned.

Not everyone can agree on everything though. You shouldn't get neg repped for voicing your opinion. If it happens, report it, thats what admins are for. If you spread misinformation though, you're fair game.

    Cheers,
    Nathan

Oh, and for the record, a blank Ebay account starts with nothing, not 100%. You have to earn your rating, good or bad.

1 good post would get you 100% positive feedback though.

I prefer the system as is, encouraging alot of good posts to increase your rep count.

And at the end of the day, this hasn't been an issue with finnancial members who the forums are provided for and by first and foremost.

the ebay system is setup for seller or buy trust not the information they give! this system works much better as far as i can see as i have used both.
dont worry about it, if your not getting the rep you should get it prob means the people that should be giving it to you prob have, but have to wait to share the love to do it again!
the main thing on here is that everyone knows, no matter how much rep you have or get, one piece of vital info that someone really really needs that you give, is better than anything they could pay for some times.
if you only ever post one good thing and it fixes the problem for someone and saves them hundreds or thousands, its worth it even if you dont get repped for it!

    I couldnt agree more...

As someone who is not a financial member of toymods, and has not been on this forum for very long, i can honestly say i didn't join up just so i could get heaps of +rep and get a big head because of it. I joined up because i believe i have a little bit of experience with some particular aspects of celicas, and i wanted to share this with whoever needed it.

I also joined because i want to learn from people who have 'been there and done that' before. The reputation system is just a bonus, added to the forums by those who have invested their time, effort and money into this forum to give everyone a chance to learn. (for which i am extremely grateful)

to all the people who disagree with the current rep system, is the amount of reputation you have really that important to you??? Does it stop you from sharing or learning??? (aside from posting in the classifieds???)

because i for one dont really mind what my rep tally is, all i care about is whether the person with the question/problem/inquiry is satisfied, i'm not particularly interested in wether my post is 'rep worthy'.

So i think that everyone should be grateful that the Toymods board, members and donaters have been gracious enough to provide us Toyota lovers with this tremendous resource that is the Toymods forum , and not payout on the very system that allows us to use the forums effectively.

As has allready been pointed out numerous times, if you want to make absolutely certain that you can have full acess to every part of the forums, become a financial member. If not, be gracious enough to pipe down, and accept the decisons of those that are actually paying for you to have the privelege of using them.
