I think the easiest and neatest approach would be an adaptronic or similar using the standard coils and dizzy.
I've made custom adaptors for fitting different dizzy's to engines before and I never ever intend to again.
The time it takes to get it right is worth the money just to do it properly to begin with and you can't beat the reliablity and simplicity of standard toyota bits. Not to mention it looks like it should be there.
With a ecu you have all the extra bits as well like fan control outputs, idle control and the possibilty that if one day you wanted to you could inject it very easily.
even the time/cost involved to regraph a mechanical dizzy compared to the 5 minutes it takes anyone with a laptop to change the entire timing map.
