Default 1jz blocking off heater core

Hay all just wondering the safest way to block off the 2 lines for the heating core. I was thinking of either just putting a bolt in a hose and blocking it. Or just weld it closed or getting a line to go from one line to the other and just let the coolant flow through . If u must ask im blocking off the lines cause my car will be track only and I dont have a heater in the car anyway

And also does anyone know which of the 2 trans lines on a a340e is the inlet for fluid from the cooler cheers

I just ran thick rubber blanking plugs on mine, they seem to only last about 12 months though before starting to crack on the outside from engine bay heat (never had one leak though). For a track car I can't see that being an issue, just replace them routinely.

From memory the rear fitting is the outlet on the A340

Don't bypass the core with a hose as you create a radiator bypass, block it off instead

I took my power steering lines (from both car and new engine) into a shop and they made up new lines to fit, was very easy.

Ah sweet spoke to a guy who done this conversion on a s14 he said to just dump the black vac thing . I thought that was what stopped the car from stalling at full lock. If I just remove that will it be ok? . And then what do I do with the vacuum ports in the mani for the p/s?

I guess that's personal preference, mine is still on my 1jz but i didn't make an active choice to keep or ditch it. Take the vac hose off, block off both pump and manifold ends and see how it handles?

Ma old man said wouldn't it be a better idea to join the pipes to let the coolant flow. How does it create a bypass? It flows through the heater core and goes into that pipe anyway

Now assuming we are talking about the same thing- where running a hose to bypass the heater core completely then your dads wrong. If you see the way the cooling system works the heater flow control tap with the heater core is in parallel with the radiator. The water pump sucks the water through both. Your dads suggestion is the same as putting a 5/8" pipe from the top to the bottom radiator hose. Follow the cooling channels and you will see. The reason why it's not a problem with a heater core is because of the restriction of the water compared to the radiator. While a 5/8" straight pipe is not a huge problem it's still a pointless downgrade if you add it.

As far as the heater bypassing i had thought initially it didn't really matter too much if the pipes were joined until I started thinking about it after Sam Q said don't do it as you create a radiator bypass, which on thinking about it is definitely true, as the pipe to the heater core inlet comes from the around the back of the engine block & the outlet from the heater core goes into pipes which then feed into the inlet side of the water pump area ( & so as its been said bypassing the radiator ) & the way i'm thinking about it is when you turn the heater tap on which is creating basically a straight through effect, ( same as joining a pipe up ) the coolant temp is lowered as the heater core is like a small radiator inside the car & so cools down the coolant & lowers the temp of the coolant going back into the motor through the inlet side of the water pump ..

yes you're got it, also don't forget about the inherent restriction to flow of the heater core itself

I agree there is a restriction to some degree but you are still getting flow & probably pretty good flow ??
